Unlawful orders

To the editor: During my 24 years on active duty, I was stationed on ships that were directly involved in Drug Interdiction Operations. We searched, seized, arrested and commandeered. We did not summarily execute. Now Trump is ordering these vessels to be destroyed. This is extra judicial killings as in this country we do not execute suspects regardless of offense without evidence and due process. Fireside chats vs.inflammatory speech

To the editor: In the depths of the Great Depression, a real President and leader, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, calmly looked to soothe the minds of the populace with his “fireside chats.” ... Of course, such sane speech would run afoul of the current president’s inflammatory rhetoric to spread fear. Project 2025, about which the president disavows any knowledge, would also be unhappy without the president’s minions being allowed to run the show and implement their scheme while DJT is busy golfing, doctoring, and micro-managing the interior decorating of what’s left ...

Where is the outrage?

To the editor: President Trump is continuing to routinely murder boatloads of human beings that he apparently deems necessary to be dead. These human being have not been arrested, imprisoned, and given a fair trial. They may be criminals, most likely are not white; but where in the Bible does it say this is okay? To the editor: As we approach Thanksgiving Day, we reflect on all the Blessings the good Lord has given to the people of the United States of America. We have just celebrated Veterans Day, formerly Armistice Day. We need to thank our veterans that fought and the many that gave their lives to keep this country free. To the editor: As a constituent of Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach, I am deeply concerned about the recent House Appropriations Committee recommendation to increase Alzheimer’s research funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by only $15 million in Fiscal Year 2026 — far short of the $113 million increase that NIH scientists have said is needed to sustain progress.
