First Team
Joey Batt, New Ulm, sr., G
Batt was a dynamic leader for the Eagles in her senior year on offense and defense, leading the team with 26.4 points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game, 5.1 assists per game and 6.1 steals per game. She's the all-time leading scorer at New Ulm High School and also the city record holder for career points with 2,301 points.
This year, the 5-5 senior led the team in points scored, points per game, assists, steals and free-throw percentage (76 percent). The five-year starter wrapped up her final season with New Ulm with a third consecutive Big South All-Conference selection. She also was named to the AAA Minnesota Girls' Basketball Coaches Association 2019 All-State first team and will next attend Minnesota State University-Mankato to continue her basketball career.
Madison Mathiowetz,
St. Mary's, fr., F
Mathiowetz helped lead the Knights to a 21-8 season, averaging 26 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game. The freshman also added 74 steals and 81 assists in a season that saw her named the Tomahawk All-Conference Player of the Year.
As a result of her high-scoring season, she also passed 1,000 career points this season. Mathiowetz has 1,106 career points and 439 career rebounds.
Maddy Guetter,
Wabasso, sr., C/F
Guetter was a focal point for the Wabasso offense and defense in her senior year, finishing her final season with the Rabbits by averaging 18.6 points per game, 13.6 rebounds per game, 4.1 steals per game and 3.3 blocks per game. The senior passed 1,000 career points earlier in the season and shot 42 percent from the floor, helping lead the Rabbits to a 21-4 season and a Tomahawk Conference trophy.
She was also named a Tomahawk All-Conference Team member this season.
Sydney Hauger,
Springfield, jr., F
Hauger led the Tigers with 21.7 points per game this season on 52 percent shooting. The Tomahawk All-Conference member also added 5.6 rebounds per game, 4.1 steals per game and 2.8 assists per game.
Hauger has scored more than 1,500 points so far in her career and was a team captain that head coach Dillon Schultz heavily relied on. Schultz said that Hauger was a player that played both ends of the court and never took a play off.
Sara Kottke, BLHS, jr., F
Kottke averaged 24 points per game, 11.2 rebounds per game, three assists per game and 1.8 steals per game with the Mustangs. The Tomahawk All-Conference player currently sits at 1,490 career points, 1,151 career rebounds (school record), 248 career assists (school record) and 179 steals.
Second Team
Jenna Frank, Wabasso, sr., F
Frank wrapped up her final season at Wabasso averaging 14.8 points per game and 2 assists per game. She led her team at the foul line, shooting 73 percent and also added 1.8 steals per game. The No. 2 scorer for Wabasso helped lead her team to a Tomahawk Conference crown.
Frank was also named a Tomahawk All-Conference Team member this season.
Sydney Windschitl,
St. Mary's, so., F
Windschitl averaged 14.3 points per game and 6 rebounds per game for the Knights in her sophomore campaign, helping the Knights to a 21-8 season. She also had 84 assists and 76 steals and was selected as a Tomahawk All-Conference member. She currently sits at 956 career points and will be looked at to help lead a team next year that will be without any seniors.
Cassie Heinrichs,
St. Mary's, sr., G
Heinrichs averaged 14.6 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game in her final season at Sleepy Eye St. Mary's. She also had 90 assists and 79 steals and passed 1,000 career points during the season. The three-year starter and Tomahawk All-Conference player wraps up her career with 1,080 points, 379 rebounds, 161 steals and 188 assists.
Grace Dehen,
Nicollet/Loyola, sr., G
Dehen was the Raiders' leading scorer with 16.4 points per game in a season that ended with a Section 2A, South Subsection runner-up finish. She also led the team in assists with 4.3 per game and averaged 2.8 rebounds per game.
She finished her career with 1,120 points and was a Valley All-Conference selection. She will attend the University of Minnesota in the fall.
Heidi Hoffman,
Cathedral, sr., F
Hoffman led the Greyhounds this season with 14 points per game while shooting 34 percent from the floor and 33 percent from beyond the arc. Head coach Dave Wilfahrt said that although Hoffman's 3-point shooting was one dimension of her game, she also developed an inside game and was a quiet leader for the Greyhounds.
The Tomahawk All-Conference honorable mention finishes her career with 493 points.
Third Team
Emma Nelson, MVL, jr., F
Nelson averaged 12.1 points per game for the Chargers and averaged a little less than 10 rebounds a game. She had 57 steals, 28 assists, 17 blocks and shot 49 percent from the floor in a season that saw her named to the Tomahawk All-Conference team.
Nelson is on MVL's Top 5 rebounders list and still has another year to play.
Iyanna Wieland,
New Ulm, sr., F
Wieland finished her senior season with 11.3 points per game and 4.1 rebounds per game. She finished her career with 697 career points and was a three-year varsity player.
The Big South Conference honorable mention will continue her basketball career at Hamline University next season.
Abbie Riederer,
MVL, fr., G
Riederer made a nice first impression for the Chargers in her first year at MVL, averaging 12.4 points per game and grabbing 146 rebounds. She also had 68 steals, 65 assists and was a 33 percent shooter.
Riederer was named a Tomahawk All-Conference honorable mention this year also and head coach Rollin Timm said that Riederer was "always a threat to score and also contributes on the defensive end by often guarding the other team's top ball-handler."
Madi Krueger,
Sleepy Eye, sr., G
Krueger stepped up in a big way for the Indians after a 2018 state appearance ended with a second-place finish. The Indians graduated most of their starting lineup last season from that state run and Krueger was looked at to help hold the team together this year.
Her competitiveness helped her wrap up her senior season with 14 points per game, six rebounds per game, 2.5 assists per game and three steals per game. She has career totals of 707 points, 340 rebounds, 136 assists and 151 steals.
She was also named a member of the 2018-2019 Tomahawk All-Conference Team.
Miah Busse, GFW, sr., G
Busse averaged 11.1 points per game, 2.5 assists per game and 2.5 steals per game in her final season with the Thunderbirds. She also averaged 3.5 rebounds per game.
The Tomahawk All-Conference member finished her career with 742 points, 201 steals and 183 assists.
