Girls’ basketball

Nicollet/Loyola 58, JWP 45

NICOLLET — Nicollet/Loyola defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 58-45 on Tuesday in a Section 2A, South Subsection girls’ basketball playoff game.

Mariah Hulke was the leading scorer for Nicollet/Loyola with 17 points. Grace Dehen had 14 points and seven assists and Jill Thompson had 8 points and 12 rebounds.

Alexia King scored 12 points for JWP.

Nicollet/Loyola (10-15) plays against Mountain Lake Area at 6 p.m. on Friday in Lake Crystal.

Mt. Lake Area/Comfrey 65, Madelia 32

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey defeated Madelia 65-32 on Tuesday in a Section 2A, South Subsection girls’ basketball playoff game.

Madelia was led by CaleyAnn Clobes, who had 22 points, eight rebounds and five steals. Also for Madelia, Sylvia Rodriguez had 5 points, seven rebounds and five steals and Alayna DeLaCruz had 10 rebounds and four steals.

Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey plays against Nicollet/Loyola at 6 p.m. on Friday in Lake Crystal.

Springfield 64, USC 35

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield defeated United South Central 64-35 on Tuesday in a Section 2A, South Subsection girls’ basketball playoff game.

Sydney Hauger scored 18 points for Springfield. Courtney Wendt scored 12 points and Mackenzie Lothert scored 10 points.

Springfield (17-9) plays against St. Clair at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Lake Crystal.

Boys’ basketball

Fairmont 62, New Ulm 41

FAIRMONT — Fairmont defeated New Ulm 62-41 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference boys’ basketball game.

New Ulm’s leading scorers were Braden Zimmerman with 11 points, Reece Melby with 10 points and Noah Hauge with 7 points.

New Ulm (5-19) plays at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial.
