LITCHFIELD -- New Ulm defeated Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato 3-1 in nonconference girls' hockey action on Tuesday.
The Eagles got goals from Ashtyn Wiltscheck, Alexa Steffl and Madeline Gag in the win.
Cassie Reed stopped 19 shots for New Ulm.
Girls' basketball
Springfield 51, RRC 50
SPRINGFIELD -- Springfield defeated Red Rock Central 51-50 on Tuesday in a nonconference girls' basketball game.
Sydney Hauger led Springfield scoring 22 points. Mackenzie Lothert scored 14 points.
RRC was led by Haley Simonson, who scored 23 points.
Springfield (1-0) plays at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart.
MCW 59, St. Mary's 57, OT
SHERBURN -- Martin County West defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary's with 10 seconds left in overtime to hand their Knights their first loss of the year in nonconference action on Tuesday.
Madison Mathiowetz led the Knights with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Cassie Heinrichs had 18 points, five rebounds and four steals and Sydney Windschitl had 11 points, two assists and two steals.
Alyssa Williamson led MCW with 18 points and Samantha Meyer had 17 points.
St. Mary's hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Thursday.
LCWM 78, MVL 69
LAKE CRYSTAL -- Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran 78-69 on Tuesday in a nonconference girls' basketball game.
Lakesha Carter scored 26 points for LCWM and Alexis Cloyd scored 18 points.
MVL was led by Maddie Pearson, who scored 14 points and had six assists. Also for MVL, Emma Nelson scored 14 points, Kaylee Hunter had seven assists and Lexi Fischer had 10 rebounds.
MVL (0-1) hosts Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton at 7 p.m. on Thursday. LCWM plays at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Blue Earth Area.
BLHS 65, Madelia 63
MADELIA -- Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart fended off Madelia long enough on Tuesday to escape with a 65-63 double overtime win in nonconference girls' basketball action.
Madelia was led by CaleyAnn Clobes with 26 points and three steals, while Sylvia Rodriguez added 13 points and seven rebounds. Also for Madelia, Lillian Paul added 9 points and three steals, while Alayna DeLaCruz had 15 rebounds and Emily Stevensen had seven rebounds.
BLHS was led by Sarah Kottke with 30 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, six steals and three blocks, while Rachel Dean had 17 points and nine boards.
Madelia (0-1) is at Westbrook/Walnut Grove for a 7:30 p.m. game Thursday.
