PAUL — Minnesota is on the verge of banning non-essential uses of “forever chemicals.” And lawmakers say they are naming the legislation after a woman who spent the last months of her life campaigning for restrictions that will be some of the toughest in the country. Possible meteorite crashes into New Jersey home, no injuries

HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — A metallic object believed to be a meteorite punched a hole in the roof of a central New Jersey home. But authorities say no injuries were reported and the object didn’t cause serious damage to the residence. Hopewell Township police said the 4- by-6-inch, potato-shaped object struck the home on Monday afternoon and eventually came to rest on a floor. It’s estimated to weigh about four pounds. NEW YORK (AP) — Wall Street dipped on Tuesday following some mixed earnings reports, as stocks remain roughly where they’ve been stuck for more than a month. The S&P 500 fell 18.95 points, or 0.5%, to 4,119.17. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 56.88, or 0.2%, to 33,561.81, while the Nasdaq composite fell 77.36, or 0.6%, to 12,179.55.
