Jr. Gold fall to Eagan in state elimination game

ALEXANDRIA — The New Ulm Junior Gold baseball team fell to the Eagan Patriots 6-5 on Friday night in a DI Junior Legion State Baseball Tournament elimination game. The loss ended the Junior Gold’s season with a 22-10 record. New Ulm scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to cut into an early 6-1 deficit but was unable to get a runner across in the seventh. HASTINGS — The New Ulm Brewers opened play in the Section 1A Amateur Baseball Tournament this past Saturday by falling to the Hastings Hawks 4-1. The Brewers fell to the elimination bracket with the loss and will travel to take on Dundas in a win-or-go-home game at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Brewers took the first lead in the first inning with a sac fly from Sam Keckeisen that scored Colten Schaefer, who led off with a walk.
