NEW ULM — John Sands of the Minnesota State Legion Board thinks that numbers for legion baseball in Minnesota are doing well. Sands, who is based out of Chaska, shared those thoughts this past weekend during the DI state legion baseball tourney. But that is not the case around the country. Donnelly returns to New Ulm, working on baseball novel

NEW ULM — Former New Ulm Journal Sports Writer Pat Donnelly, who wrote for The Journal from 1985 through 1990, is in the process of writing a fictional baseball book that is based on his experiences as a player with the New Ulm Brewers from 1988 through 1991. Donnelly was in New Ulm last weekend for the DI American Legion State Baseball Tournament and did some PA work for games.
