Portner joins elite New Ulm rushing list

By Jim Bastian 2 min read

When New Ulm Cathedral's Alex Portner broke off a 17-yard run in the second quarter of the Greyhounds' 54-13 win over Buffalo Lake-Hector/Stewart last Saturday, it moved Portner over 3,000 career rushing yards as he became the first high school football player in New Ulm to crack the 3,000-yard rushing barrier for his career.

Portner, who came into Saturday's 2A, Nine-Man playoff game with 2,899 yards, ended the win with 189 yards and now has 3,088 career yards going into Friday's Section 2A, Nine-Man title game against Wabasso.
