Area football roundup: Greyhounds rout MLA

CATHEDRAL 71, MLA 7

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- New Ulm Cathedral trounced Mountain Lake Area 71-7 on Friday night in a Nine-Player Southwest District, West Subdistrict football game.

Alex Portner had five carries for 25 yards and two touchdowns, while Hudson Lieser had five carries for 54 yards, two touchdowns and a 2-point conversion, Blake Aufderheide had two carries for 41 yards and a touchdown. Also for Cathedral on the ground, Jimmy Jensen had six carries for 10 yards and a touchdown, Will Finstad had six carries for 42 yards and a TD and Ryler Collins had a 3-yard TD run and a 2-point conversion catch. Quarterback Eli Anderson completed 5 of 5 passes for 66 yards, a touchdown and three 2-point conversions, while Josh Forstner had four catches fot 66 yards, a touchdown and two 2-point conversion catches.

Defensively for Cathedral, Anderson picked off two passes, one which he returned for a TD, while Evan Blekestad, Camden Berg and Lane Ruch had four tackles apiece.

Cathedral is at Renville County West for a 7 p.m. game Wednesday.

RRC 27, BLHS 24

LAMBERTON -- The Red Rock Central Falcons held off Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 27-24 on Friday night in a Nine-Player Southwest District, West Subdistrict football game.

Jordan Therkilsen led the Falcons with 28 carries for 239 yards and three TDs, while Braxton Weber had 14 carries for 114 yards and Jonah Skarupa had 12 carries for 59 yards and a score. Weber also completed 2 of 6 passes for 16 yards and two interceptions, with Therkilsen catching one pass for 5 yards and Grant Bibbebose grabbing the other pass for 12 yards.

No statistics were reported for BLHS.

RRC (2-4) is at Wabasso on Wednesday night.
