Area roundup: Eagles boys soccer falls to TCU

MONTGOMERY -- The New Ulm Eagles fell to Tri-City United 4-1 on Monday night in a Big South Conference, Black Division boys soccer game.

The win clinched the Black Division championship for TCU (12-1-1, 5-0) and will see the school host the Big South Conference title game against the Gold Division champion Worthington on Thursday.

For the Eagles (10-5, 4-2), Methodious Amoah scored on an assist by Colten Evers with 34 minutes left in the game. Eagles goalie Brevinn Vandermause had 11 saves.

The Eagles now ready themselves for the Section 2AA playoffs, which begin Tuesday at the high seed.

SIBLEY EAST GOES 1-4 AT TOURNEY

DASSEL -- The Sibley East Wolverines went 1-4 at the Dassel Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

The Wolverines fell to Mankato East (25-15, 21-25 points tiebreaker), Litchfield (25-23, 25-18), Melrose (25-11, 25-12), defeated Rockford (25-20, 25-20) and fell to Mankato East in the consolation championship (25-16, 25-23).

In the first game against East, Maelynn Thoele and Addy Odenthal each had four kills to lead Sibley East, while Olivia Kennard had seven digs, Soliare Lundgren had two aces, Kennedy Hahn had nine set assists and Kamryn Dose had three blocks.

Against Litchfield, Ellie Feterl and Thoele had four kills each, while Kennard had 16 digs and two aces and Hahn had 18 assists.

Against Melrose, Kennard and Feterl each had four kills, while Kennard added 14 digs and Bailey Devlamino had 11 assists.

Emmy Pautz led the Wolverines past Rockford with four kills and five assists, while Feterl and Kennard each had five digs, Feterl added two aces, Devlamino had two aces and Thoele had two blocks.

The final match against East saw Feterl lead the Wolverines with five kills and 10 digs, while Kennard had 10 digs and Devlamino had three assists.
