CEDAR MOUNTAIN 3, GFW 0
GIBBON -- Cedar Mountain swept Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 25-15, 25-15, 25-16 in a Tomahawk Division volleyball match on Thursday.
Kendra Erickson led the Cougars with 12 kills, nine assists and seven digs, while Reagyn Kleinschmidt had nine kills and 19 set assists. Aubrey Steffl had nine kills and nine digs.
Kora Schwarzrock had eight kills and six digs with a block for GFW, while Lauren Schafer had five kills and a block. Maren Kemkes had 13 set assists.
Cedar Mountain (10-3, 4-0) hosts Cedar Mountain on Tuesday, while GFW (2-5, 1-3) plays in a tournament at Sibley East on Saturday.
SPRINGFIELD 3, LESTER PRAIRIE 0
LESTER PRAIRIE -- Springfield swept Lester Prairie 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 in a Tomahawk Division volleyball match on Thursday.
Gabriella Schenk had nine kills and two digs for the Tigers, while Kendall Krueger had eight kills and three digs. Faye Williams had 17 assists, two aces and three digs, and Sophie Mude had 12 set assists, three aces and two digs.
Springfield (4-3, 3-2) plays at Nicollet on Monday.
MADELIA 3, GHEC/T/ML 0
MADELIA -- Madelia swept Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 25-19, 25-20, 25-19 on Thursday in its Homecoming game.
Avery Tatro had 22 set assists and four aces for Madelia, while Carissa Sorenson had seven kills and three aces and Grace Tatro had five kills. Addie Odegard and Kendall Pietsch each had four kills also for the Blackhawks, while Emmy Jonhons had 15 digs and four aces and Emily Jacobs had 13 digs.
Madelia is not 4-7 overall and 2-2 in the Valley and travels to St. James for a tournament on Saturday.
LCWM 3, SIBLEY EAST 0
LAKE CRYSTAL -- Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial swept Sibley East 25-21, 25-12, 25-16 in a South Central Conference volleyball match on Thursday.
Nev Parsons led the Knights with 22 kills, while Reese Palmer had 36 set assists and Callie Mueller had four aces.
No statistics were reported for Sibley East
LCWM (15-5, 4-1) plays at St. Clair in a tournament on Thursday.
RRC 3, MLA 1
MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Red Rock Central defeated Mountain Lake Area 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24 in a nonconference volleyball match on Thursday.
Kendra Schroeder had nine kills and three aces for the Falcons, while Natasha Erickson had 31 set assists, 25 digs and a block. Paige Wondercheck had seven kills, and Zoey Keck had nine kills, 23 digs and a block. Amelia Ubl had 25 digs.
RRC (5-6) heads to play Adrian-Ellsworth on Tuesday.
ALDEN-CONGER 3, NICOLLET 2
NICOLLET -- Alden-Conger edged Nicollet 25-12, 25-21, 15-25, 15-25, 16-14 in a Valley Conference volleyball match on Thursday.
Madison Kettner had 17 kills for Nicollet, while Jazmyn Goettlicher had eight kills. Jacelyn Wilking had 15 digs, while Zoie Rengstorf had 24 set assists. Cheyenne Klockziem had eight blocks.
Nicollet plays in a tournament in Sibley East on Saturday.
MARSHALL 3, NEW ULM 0
MARSHALL -- Marshall blanked New Ulm 25-11, 25-16, 25-16 in a Big South Conference volleyball match on Thursday.
Karly Meier led the Eagles with five kills and two digs, while Calli Koop had three kills and eight digs. Mckenna Hulke had 10 set assists and eight digs.
New Ulm (7-10, 0-4) hosts Waseca on Thursday.
LSH 3, MVL 0
LE SUEUR -- Le Sueur-Henderson swept Minnesota Valley Lutheran 29-27, 25-18, 25-15 in a South Central Conference volleyball match on Thursday.
Jenna Bates led the Chargers with 10 kills and 11 digs with two aces, while Olivia Hammer had three kills and 12 digs. Alexis DeVos had five kills, and Graysie Black had 18 set assists, 10 digs and four aces. Taryn Gunderson added nine kills and two aces and Emmalie Fluegge had three kills and five blocks.
MVL (8-4) plays in a Tournament at United South Central on Saturday.
GIRLS SOCCER
NEW ULM 6, WASECA 2
WASECA -- New Ulm rolled to a 6-2 win over Waseca on Thursday night in a Big South Conference girls soccer game.
Jesalyn Skoglund led the Eagles to victory with three goals and an assist. She scored the first goal of the game and the last two. Her first goal was assisted on by Morgan Zimanski, while her last came off an assist from Piper Kapolczynski. Marlena Kral also scored on an assist by Kapolczynski, while Mia Peart scored on an assist from Zimanski and Zimanski scored on an assist from Skoglund.
Greta Berger had seven saves in net for New Ulm, now 8-1-2 overall.
New Ulm is at Hutchinson on Monday night.
PREP CROSS-COUNTRY MEET
MVL, SPRINGFIELD/CM, SIBLEY EAST RUN AT GSL
GLENCOE -- Minnesota Valley Lutheran, Springfield/Cedar Mountain and Sibley East were all area teams to run at the Caty Delwiche Invitational in Glencoe on Thursday.
Sibley East won the boys' side of the invite, while the MVL boys took seventh and the Springfield/CM boys took 14th. The girls side of the invite was won by Blake, while Springfield/CM took fourth and MVL took eighth.
Gage Horstman of Sibley East won the boys race with a time of 16:05.7, while teammate Julio Alejandro took third with a personal-best time of 16:31.6. MVL's Titus Kohls took fifth with a personal-best time of 17:02.8, while Sibley East's Jacksen Pomplun took 10th (17:25.4). MVL's next top runner was Tucker Kohls, who ran a personal-best time of 18:29.5. Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop didn't have a full team but saw Juan Sunun-Perez take 34th (18:44.6), while Springfield/CM was led by William Griffis (20:05.9, PB, 65th).
Leading the area on the girls' side was Springfield/CM's Farrah Dauer, who took 13th with a time of 21:20.1. MVL's Faith Peters ran a 21:33,1 to take 16th, while Springfield/CM's Marley Hewitt ran a 21:56.5 to finish 18th. Springfield/CM's Lydia Dauer took 23rd (22:13.7), while her teammate Mya Reese finished 27th with a PR time of 22:25.8. GFW didn't have a complete girls team at the event but were led by Lucy Dvorak, who ran a 22:32.2 for 28th place. Springfield/CM also had Sylvia Hovland take 37th with a time of 23:07.7, while GFW's Kelby Bruns took 47th (24:01.4) and MVL's Lauren Julius took 51st with a PR time of 24:12.4. Sibley East didn't have a full girls team but was led by Brielle Winterfeldt, who ran a time of 24:27.4 to take 54th.
