AREA TEAMS RUN AT WINDOM EAGLE INVITE
WINDOM -- Three area cross-country programs ran at the Windom Eagle Invite on Monday, with Springfield/Cedar Mountain winning the girls' side of the invite out of seven teams.
Sleepy Eye St. Mary's/Sleepy Eye/New Ulm Cathedral took fourth out of eight teams on the boys' side of the invite.
The Springfield/CM girls were led by Farrah Dauer, who took first with a time of 21:06.2, while LCWM/N's Evie Jones took third (21:14.6) and Springfield/CM's Marley Hewitt took fifth (21:28.8). Also placing in the top 40 girls runners from the area, SM/SE/NUC's Emma Hagen ran a 21:35 to take sixth, while her teammate Millie Lax took seventh (22:02.4), Springfield/CM's Lydia Dauer took eighth (22:02.7) and Springfield/CM's Mya Reese took 10th (22:30.6). Springfield/CM's Sylvia Hovland took 15th (22:53.7), while SM/SE/NUC's Elizabeth Fischer took 30th (24:57.1), Springfield/CM's Kaelyn Rice took 32nd (25:09.3), LCWM/N's Addy Spiess took 35th (25:14.9) and LCWM/N's Emma Kuehn took 40th (25:56.3).
Levi Hagen led the SM/SE/NUC boys with a sixth-place time of 17:47.9, while teammate Max Fischer was right behind him in seventh (17:48.2).
Also placing in the top 40 from the area on the boys' side, LCWM/N's Weston Lecy took 10th (18:14.2), while SM/SE/NUC's Oziel Lozano took 19th (19:32.5), LCWM/N's Conner Thormodsgard took 24th (19:55.4), Springfield/CM's Alexander Bigelow took 30th (21:04), Springfield/CM's Xavier Manderfeld took 31st (21:06.9), LCWM/N's Taylor Breitbarth took 32nd (21:08.6), LCWM/N's Bennett VanGenderen took 35th (21:11.5), Bennett Fells took 36th (21:17.2) and Springfield/CM's Phineas Bislew took 40th (21:41.8).
The boys side of the meet was won by Windom Area.

NICOLLET 3, GFW 0
GIBBON -- The Nicollet Raiders swept the Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Firebirds on Monday night in a Tomahawk-Valley Conference crossover volleyball match.
Nicollet was led by Jazmyn Goettlicher, who had eight kills, while Madison Kettner had seven kills and nine digs and Megan Soost had four kills. Also for the Raiders, Chloe Kachelmeier had nine digs, Payten Otto had eight digs, Zoie Rengstorf had 11 set assists and Lydia Martens had 10 set assists and two aces.
Kora Schwarzrock led GFW with 11 kills and 14 digs, while Maren Kemkes had 14 set assists, Kinley Bruns had 14 digs, Natalie Ahlbrecht had six set assists, Kjerssa Jasinkski had two blocks and Lauren Schafer had two aces.
Nicollet (3-4) hosts Alden-Conger in a Valley Division match on Thursday. GFW fell to 2-3 with the loss.
