NEW ULM -- The New Ulm Eagles swept Fairmont in a Big South Conference, nondivision volleyball match on Thursday, winning 26-24, 25-14, 25-18.
The Eagles were led by Calli Koop, who had seven kills, six digs and two aces, while Karly Meier had five kills and three blocks and Kaybrie Melzer had five kills. Lily Poehler had three kills and 14 digs also for New Ulm, while Leah Brustad and Keira Sullivan added three kills apiece, Mckenna Hulke had 11 set assists and nine digs, Gracie Baker had 10 digs and Mazy Kitzberger had eight digs.
New Ulm is at Tri-City United on Monday night.
MVL 3, MAPLE RIVER 0
MAPLETON -- Minnesota Valley Lutheran swept Maple River 25-16, 25-17, 25-21 on Thursday in a South Central Conference volleyball match.
Olivia Hammer led the Chargers in the win with 11 kills, four digs and three aces, while Jenna Bates had eight kills, 10 digs and four aces and Emmalie Fluegge had seven kills and three blocks. Kam Davey added five kills and two blocks, while Taryn Gunderson had 17 digs, Nora Krueger had 11 digs and three aces and Graysie Black had 30 set assists.
The Chargers play in a tournament in Sleepy Eye this Saturday.
SLEEPY EYE 3, LESTER PRAIRIE 0
SLEEPY EYE -- The Sleepy Eye Storm rolled to a 25-19, 25-15, 25-19 shutout win over Lester Prairie on Thursday in a Tomahawk Division volleyball match.
Kenley Jensen had 11 kills and nine digs to lead the way, while Callie Evers had nine kills and nine digs, Karly Wendinger had five kills and Makayla Strong had four kills. Jace Schauman added 12 digs, while Ava Kunkel had 26 set assists, 14 digs and two aces.
Sleepy Eye hosts a tournament this Saturday.
CEDAR MOUNTAIN 3, CATHEDRAL 0
NEW ULM -- Cedar Mountain swept New Ulm Cathedral 25-14, 25-17, 25-12 in a Tomahawk Division volleyball match on Thursday.
Cedar Mountain was led by Kendra Erickson, who had 12 kills, nine set assists, 11 digs and three blocks, while Reagyn Kleinschmidt had nine kills, 12 set assists, five blocks and six aces and Aubrey Steffl had four kills and eight digs.
Cathedral was led by Maddy Hazuka, who had four kills and 12 digs, while Brynn Wilfahrt and Jayde Altermatt each had four kills. Morgan Beranek had six set assists also for Cathedral, while Ashlyn Hillesheim had five set assists and 17 digs.
Cedar Mountain is at Martin County West on Monday, while Cathedral plays in a Waterville-Elysian-Morristown tournament this Saturday.
