ARLINGTON -- Mike Vogt of Brownton won a $1,000 for his efforts Saturday night at Arlington Raceway.
Starting from his seventh-place starting position in the Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature, Vogt moved forward to take the lead on Lap 8 and remained the leader for the remaining 12 laps to win the race.
The race was intense as the 33 of Matt Schauer and the 0X of Mark Oestreich lined up in the front row and took off at the drop of the green flag. The two cars drove around the track like a freight train lap by lap with Craig Groebner tagging them on Lap 2 and spinning around causing a yellow flag. Vogt taps Oestreich on Lap 6 and the following lap he got around Oestreich to take second place. Vogt and Schauer traded spots on Lap 9, with Vogt seemingly having a clear path to victory but he soon had the company of Karl Hewitt on his back side along with lapped traffic to deal with. Then the 3k of Karl Hewitt drove the inside lane and passes Schauer and Oestreich in Turn 2. Schauer had troubles and left the track. Hewitt tried to close the gap between him and Vogt, but Vogt had substantial distance on him and held him off to win the race.
Jordan Robinson had a great lead at the beginning of the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature but a yellow came out for the 4d car when he spun around in Turn 4. That gave Chad Volk the opportunity to take the lead on the restart. Chad Volk dueled with Cory Probst for the remaining laps of the race as the two switched spots and challenged each other for the duration of the race. Probst inched forward on the back stretch and raced side by side with Volk for several laps, but in the end it was Volk who finished ahead at the checkered flag to win. Austin Jahns took third.
The Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature was uneventful as it went flag to flag, with Gary Schumacher leading from start to finish to win. On the fourth lap, Alan Lahr drove into the pit with troubles which then allowed Dale Gatton and Mason Berger to battle each other. In the end, Berger passed Gatton to take second place.
Matt Luebke was trying to have a repeat feature win by taking the lead on the first lap. The 2j of Jeff Carter spun around and caused a yellow flag on the third lap. Luebke then took the lead again, but a few laps later Eric Larson was able to get around Luebke and take over the race and went on to win. Luebke took second and Joey Reimers took third.
Clint Hatlestad led from start to finish yhe Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature, holding off hard charger Matt Looft to win the race. Looft claimed second and Jason Schroeder took third after a last-lap mishap.
There were three different leaders in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature as Dave Moriarty took the lead from the front row and held on for three laps. But a yellow was thrown when a tire was on the track in Turn 2. That gave Shaun Bruns the opportunity to gain positions on the restart and by the fourth lap he was leading the race. Moriarty stuck with him but also had to deal with Dan Mackenthun who had started ninth. Lap by lap, he had gained spots and by Lap 8, he was racing with Bruns for the lead. Bruns held him off until the last lap. In Turns 3 and 4 Mackenthun took the inside groove with Bruns on top and got by Bruns along with Matt Looft and Dan Eckblad for a dramatic win and finish to the race.
Brett McConnell led the entire EZ Wash & Storage Truck Cross flag to flag race to win. Brandon Kuehn took second and Mitchell Penaz took third.
The Jerry's HQ Foods Auto Cross feature was fun to watch, with brothers Riley and Mason Bussler lined up side by side on the front row to battle each other. As they passed the first flag, it was Riley Bussler who was in the lead, but by the second lap Mason Bussler had the lead. He was able to move forward and gain distance on the field as he drove around lapped traffic. The 23s of Cole Salisbury was in line to challenge him but by the fourth lap, the 30 of Nick McConnell was in the mix. Mason Bussler got his car to stick and stayed on course to win his first career feature. Colton Landwer passed McConnell after the white flag was displayed to finish second.
