Steinbach honored by plaque at Johnson Park

NEW ULM -- New Ulm native Terry Steinbach said that having a permanent plaque installed at Johnson Park was very humbling.
The plaque was installed last week by New Ulm's Leon Kral and Brad Kral, who donated their time and efforts for the project.
"When you go down to Johnson Park and see the other plaques that are down there -- you don't ever think that you are going to be there -- that is not your goal," Steinbach said. "But when it happens and you see it up there, it is very meaningful. I am honored that it is there, especially with the people who are on there.
"And, more importantly, it was a thank you for the years that we played in New Ulm. It meant a lot playing at that ballpark for high school, VFW, legion and everything."
Steinbach's admiration for Johnson Park began at a young age.
"It meant a lot to play at Johnson Park because when we were kids at an early age, you dreamed and hoped and wished that maybe I can play there someday," Steinbach said. "Fast forward and here we are and to be able to have had a career at that ballpark, I could not be prouder."
