GIRLS SOCCER

NEW ULM 4, FAIRMONT 2

FAIRMONT -- The New Ulm girls soccer team bested Fairmont 4-2 on Tuesday night in a Big South Conference, nondivision game.

New Ulm got two goals from Piper Kapolczynski, both in the second half. The first was on a penalty kick, while the second was unassisted. The Eagles started the day with a goal from Yessi Fernandez and got their second on a goal from Mallory Novak.

New Ulm goalie Greta Berger had six saves, while the Eagles had 13 shots on goal.

GIRLS TENNIS

TCU 7, NEW ULM 0

MONTGOMERY -- New Ulm was shut out by Tri-City United 7-0 on Tuesday in a Big South Conference girls tennis match.

The Eagles were unable to win a set against a tough TCU team but got its closest match in No. 1 singles action. Eagles No. 1 singles player Carmen Schotzko fell to Ellie Adams in a 7-5, 6-2 match.

NICOLLET 3, LESTER PRAIRIE 2

LESTER PRAIRIE -- The Nicollet Raiders topped Lester Prairie 23-25, 28-26, 21-25, 28-26, 15-8 in a nonconference volleyball match to open the season.

Madison Kettner led the team with eight kills, six set assists and six blocks, while Megan Soost had six kills and five blocks. Lydia Martens had 12 set assists, and Chloe Kachelmeier had 15 digs.
