Eagles fall to Bucs in first home meet

NEW ULM -- New Ulm dropped its first home girls tennis meet of the year, taking a 6-1 loss to Blue Earth Area on Monday.
No. 2 singles Carmen Schotzko got the lone victory for the Eagles (0-3), downing BEA's Abbey Lorenz 6-3, 6-4.
In the rest of the meet, BEA's Abigail Greff topped New Ulm's Natalie Fischer 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Ella Swanson won for BEA over New Ulm's Avah Kruse 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. BEA's Jessi James defeated New Ulm's Maggie Joyce 6-3, 6-1. For doubles, BEA's Brooklyn Rosenau and Elaena Schiltz downed New Ulm's Brielle Evans and Lilly Rieger 6-4, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles, while Natalie Schiltz and Amaya Ristau-Mensing won 6-3, 6-4 over New Ulm's Elanor Grathwol and Edith Albrecth at No. 2 doubles. BEA's Emersen Wier and Emily Schrader took a 6-1, 6-1 win over New Ulm's Caroline Wunderlin and Ellie Martinka at No. 3 doubles.
New Ulm is back in action next week Monday with an away game at Hutchinson.
