The New Ulm Brewers won twice in the elimination bracket of the Section 1A Amateur Baseball Tournament this weekend, taking down Dundas 3-0 on Saturday, then defeating Hastings 3-1 in a rematch on Sunday. With the wins, New Ulm now travels to play Faribault on Friday, with the winner punching a ticket to the state tournament.
NEW ULM 3, DUNDAS 0
DUNDAS -- Mitch Bockenstedt pitched nine scoreless innings to lead the New Ulm Brewers to a 3-0 win over the Dundas Dukes on Saturday.
Bockenstedt struck out four batters and allowed nine hits to earn the win. At the plate for the Brewers, Colton Schaefer was 3 for 5 with two runs scored, while Jason Seidl added three hits. Ayden Jensen had two RBIs.
NEW ULM 3, HASTINGS 1
HASTINGS -- All three of New Ulm's runs came in the fourth inning against Hastings, which was all it needed to come away with a 3-1 win on Sunday.
Tate Becker got the win on the mound for the Brewers, striking out nine and allowing no hits and just one walk in 4 2/3 innings of work. Jace Schaefer started the game, pitching 4 1/3 innings and allowing one run on three hits and four walks. At the plate for New Ulm, Ayden Jensen was 2 for 4 with a run scored, while Cole Ranweiler had a hit and a run scored.
