ARLINGTON -- Once again history was made at the Arlington Raceway during the Sibley County Fair and a full house of race fans.
Sixteen-year-old Brayden Allen won his first-ever Rice Companies Sprint feature and veteran IMCA Stock Car driver Dan Mackenthun won his 200th feature win while Sport Compact driver Nate Coopman won his official 300th feature win and Joey Reimers won his first ever Arlington State Bank IMCA No. Sport Modified feature.
There were three different leaders in the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature with Mason Goettl taking the lead from his second-row start. By the fifth lap, Taylor Manderfield passed him as he pulled off the back straight with troubles ending his night. Manerfield had command of the race for the next four laps until hardcharging Cory Probst moved up to battle with him. On the ninth lap, Probst got around Manderfield and stayed in front to take the win. Manderfield took second ahead of Austin Jahns and Chad Volk finished fourth.
The Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact race was fun to watch as Justin Scheletzke and Nate Coopman fought each other lap by lap with Scheletzke always the leader as they came past the start finish line. As the checkered flag was being thrown, coming out of Turn 4 Coopman seemed to hit turbo charge and pulled ahead of Scheletzke to claim the win and make it his 300th. Scheletzke followed in a very close second with Gary Schumacher taking third place.
The Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature was also exciting with three different leaders. There was a first lap yellow flag when the cars of Jesse Anderson and Aaron Simons tangled in Turn 4. Anderson went to the work area and Simons ended up in the pit area. On the restart, Mark Oestreich took the lead but had a lot of pressure from the 24 of Craig Groebner. He made his move and got by Oestriech for the lead and it looked like clear sailing for him until the very last time around the track when Mike Vogt got by Groebner as the checkered flag was being displayed and won his first feature in six years. Groebner took second and Jesse Anderson worked his way through the field to take third ahead of Rod Manthey.
There was plenty of action in the Arlington State Bank IMCA No. Sport Modified feature. Early leader Jeff Lloyd and Scott Koep raced side by side for several laps. There was a caution on the second lap when Ben Reierson stopped his car in Turn 2 with a flat tire. He exited to the work area. When the race resumed Lloyd and Koep were once again challenging each other until Joey Reimers moved up and was in their sights. He got around both cars and another caution was thrown when Koep hit a tire on the track and the 39r slid in Turn 4 as well. Those two cars were out of the race. After the restart, Reimers remained the leader as Eric Larson was trying to close the gap lap by lap to take over. In the end, Reimers picked up his first ever feature win, Larson settled for second and Reierson was able to move into third place after his earlier misfortune.
A red flag at the beginning of the Rice Companies IMCA Sprint feature delayed the start as several cars got tangled up in Turn 2 causing the 12g of Kinzlee Geisenger to flip over. When the race resumed, it was all Brayden Allen as he took the lead and never looked back. Early challenger Mike Stien had tried to close the gap between them but soon he was holding off Brett Allen for the position. By Lap 5 Brett got around Stien and went after Brayden Allen, but by then Brayden Allen had a half a lap on the field and secured his lead getting ahead of lapped traffic. He won his heat also claiming a clean sweep for the evening. Brett Allen took second and Stien finished third ahead of Bill Johnson.
The Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature saw JJ Reimers take the lead on the firs lap but he had troubles with just five laps in and pulled into the pit area. That opened up the door for Matt Looft to move forward. He led the remainder of the race but him and Dan Menk raced side by side lap by lap, as the checkered came out Looft pulled forward and took the win. Menk took second and Clint Hatlestad took third from his eighth-place start.
The B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature had three different leaders as well. The first leader was AJ Zimmerman but soon he had the company of Dave Moriarty and then a series of caution flags occurred on the back stretch and Zimmerman ended up in the pit area. That opened the door for Moriarty to take over the race but not for long as hardcharging Dan Mackenthun and Matt Looft battled each other the remaining 10 laps of the race with Mackenthun claiming the victory, Looft took second and Moriarty settled for third ahead of Tim Pessek.
