ALEXANDRIA -- The New Ulm Junior Gold baseball team fell to the Eagan Patriots 6-5 on Friday night in a DI Junior Legion State Baseball Tournament elimination game.
The loss ended the Junior Gold's season with a 22-10 record.
New Ulm scored three runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to cut into an early 6-1 deficit but was unable to get a runner across in the seventh.
Miles Castleman was 1 for 4 with a double and an RBI to lead the Junior Gold, while Mitchell Hopp was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Trevan Thordson also was 1 for 4 with an RBI, while Owen Castleman, Parker Ranweiler, Evan Starke and Noah Gode each had a single. Levi Hopp drew two walks for New Ulm.
Conlin McAlpine took the loss in three innings, allowing six hits and four walks for six runs while striking out two. Levi Hopp pitched the final three innings in relief, allowing two hits and one walk.
