Jaxx shut out by Kilowatts
WABASSO — The Granite Falls Kilowatts earned a 2-0 shutout win over the Wabasso Jaxx on Sunday evening in a Corn Belt League amateur baseball game.
The Jaxx had four hits in the game, all coming on singles by Jack Burns, CJ Theis, Josh Guetter and Andrew Burns. Burns got the start also and pitched 6 2/3 solid innings despite the loss, allowing seven hits and one walk for one run while striking out five. Cason Olson pitched the final 2 1/3 innings in relief, allowing four hits and no walks for one run while striking out one.
Drew Almich was 3 for 4 with a double to lead the Kilowatts, while Jake Peterson was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Nikson Knapper was 2 for 4 and Hunter Wilke was 1 for 4 with an RBI. Knapper also got the complete-game shutout, allowing four hits and no walks while striking out nine.
Wabasso fell to 1-14 in the CBL with the loss, while the Kilowatts moved to 10-4 in league play. Raymond is the current CBL leader with a 12-1 record, while Bird Island is second ahead of Granite Falls with an 11-2 mark.
