Orioles hold off Tigers, win by 1

LEAVENWORTH — The Leavenworth Orioles survived a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball battle with the Springfield Tigers to win 11-10 on Tuesday.

Springfield scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning, but were unable to score the tying run.

Alex Sellner earned the win for Leavenworth, allowing one run on two hits in one inning. Caden Evers made the start, striking out two and allowing one run on one hit and four walks in three innings, while Zach Kelly got the save, allowing two runs on three hits with one strikeout. At the plate for the Orioles, Dylan Hillesheim was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored, while Jevan Richert and Mark Anderson each hda tow hits, and RBI and two runs scored. Jackson Huiras was 2 for 4 with two runs scored, and Billy Cook had a hit and three RBIs.

Tyler Dick took the loss for Springfield, striking out three and allowing five runs, four earned, on three hits and four walks. Justin Haugo started the game, striking out six and allowing six runs, four earned, on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. At the plate for the Tigers, Jacob Poehler was 3 for 6 with three RBIs and a run scored, while Decker Scheffler was 3 for 5 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Tyler Hach was 3 for 6 with an RBI, and Jordan Milbrath was 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs. Brecken Heiling and Aiden Moriarty each added two hits.
