BCHS to present “Baseball and Brown County: Still in Glove”

NEW ULM — Baseball has been part of Brown County life for nearly as long as Brown County itself.

On Thursday, July 16, from 12-1 p.m., the Brown County Historical Society (BCHS) will explore that rich local tradition during its next Lunch and a Bite of History program, “Baseball and Brown County: Still in Glove,” featuring guest speaker Randy Krzmarzick.

For generations, Brown County residents have taken to ballfields across the county, from organized town teams and youth leagues to informal games that brought neighbors together. Boys grew into men playing baseball, while generations of girls and women built their own traditions on the softball field. More than a game, baseball and softball have long been woven into the social and cultural fabric of Brown County communities.

During the program, Krzmarzick will share stories from Brown County’s baseball past, reflecting on the players, teams, communities and memories that have made the sport an enduring part of local life. The presentation will highlight how baseball has connected generations and created stories that continue to be remembered and told.

The program will be held at the Brown County Historical Society Museum Annex, 12 N. Broadway, New Ulm. Admission is free, but reservations are required.

To reserve a seat, contact the Brown County Historical Society at 507-233-2616 or email education@browncountyhistorymn.org.

Starting at $4.65/week.
