VFW SILVER 16, ST. JAMES 0 (5 INNINGS)
ST. JAMES — The New Ulm VFW Silver racked up 12 hits for 16 runs in a 16-0 rout of St. James on Wednesday evening in a VFW baseball game.
The Silver were led by a nine-run fourth inning.
Owen Drill was 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs to lead the Silver, while Blake Johnson was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Ethan Drill was 2 for 3. Blake Aufderheide also was 1 for 3 with two RBIs, while Hudson Lieser was 1 for 3 with two RBIs and Chase Wilson was 1 for 3 with a double, a walk and an RBI.
Aufderheide got the mound win in three innings, allowing two hits and a walk for no runs while striking out one. Wyatt Hansen pitched a scoreless inning with one hit allowed and two strikeouts, while Lieser pitched a scoreless inning with no hits or walks allowed and one strikeout.
The Silver moved to 10-7 with the win.
JR. LEGION BASEBALL
DELANO 12, NEW ULM 6
DELANO — The New Ulm Junior Legion Gold fell to Delano 12-6 on Wednesday in a junior legion baseball game.
The game was ended in five innings.
New Ulm jumped out to a 4-0 lead with three runs in the first and one in the second, but Delano responded with a five-run bottom of the second to take the lead. New Ulm got two runs back in the top of the third, but Delano ran away with six runs in the bottom of the third and another run in the bottom of the fourth.
Trevan Thordson was 1 for 2 with an RBI for the Jr. Gold, while Paxton Johnson was 1 for 1 with an RBI. Tanner Kissner took the loss for New Ulm in 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and one walk for one run in 2/3 innings.
New Ulm fell to 13-5 with the loss.

LEGION BASEBALL
SPRINGFIELD 10, MANKATO CRUSADERS 9
MANKATO — The Springfield Legion Post 257 baseball team held off a late comeback by the Mankato Post 11 Crusaders to win 10-9 in a legion baseball game Tuesday night.
Springfield scored six runs in the sixth to build a 9-3 lead. Post 11 came back with five runs in the bottom of the inning and one in the seventh, but Springfield held on for the win.
Walks were the story of the game, with Springfield earning 15 of them in the game while Post 11 had 14. Springfield was outhit 5-4 in the game.
Adiel Trevino was 2 for 3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs to lead Post 257, while Eli Trevino was 1 for 3 with three RBIs and Aiden Moriarty had three walks and two RBIs. Mikey Colvin earned the win for Springfield in relief, pitching 2/3 innings and allowing two hits and three walks for five runs. Eli Heglund started on the hill for Springfield, pitching one inning and allowing one hit and two walks for one run.
Moriarty was another one of eight pitchers Springfield used in the game and he had the best showing, allowing just one walk and no hits or runs in two innings while striking out four.
