NEW ULM JR. LEGION 6, EAST GRAND FORKS 5

SIOUX FALLS — New Ulm Junior Legion defeated Sioux Falls West 8-7 and East Grand Forks 6-5 during the Sioux Falls Invitational on Friday.

Parker Ranweiler earned the win on the mound in the win over Sioux Falls West, striking out one and allowing one run on two hits in 3 1/3 innings. Conlin McAlpine pitched 3 2/3 innings, allowing five earned runs on seven hits. At the plate, Ryler Collins was 3 for 5 with an RBI and two runs scored, whlie Owen Castleman was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Ranweiler added two hits and a run scored.

Castleman was 3 for 5 with an RBI to lead the Gold over East Grand Forks, while Collins was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI and Ranweiler was 2 for 4. Trevan Thordson also tripled, while Evan Starke doubled.

THURSDAY

LAKE CRYSTAL 8, NEW ULM VFW 2

NEW ULM — Lake Crystal Junior Legion defeated the New Ulm VFW Silver baseball team 8-2 on Friday.

Wyatt Hansen took the loss for New Ulm, striking out seven and allowing eight runs, five earned, on 11 hits in seven innings. At the plate, Hansen, Blake Johnson and Ethan Drill each had a hit, with Hansen adding a run scored.

New Ulm (8-5) plays at Sleepy Eye Saturday at 11 a.m.

SLEEPY EYE VFW 5, SPRINGFIELD JR. LEGION 3

SPRINGFIELD — The Sleepy Eye VFW baseball team defeated Springfield Junior Legion 5-3 on Thursday.

Anden Braun led the Sleepy Eye bats, going 3 for 4 with a double, while Caiden Helget was 1 for 2 with an RBI, Mason Mathiowetz was 1 for 3 with an RBI and Gus Hoffmann added an RBI. Cooper Walter got the win on the mound in 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk while striking out five.

Easton Heglund led Springfield at the plate, going 1 for 2 with two RBIs, while Logan Shoen drew two walks and scored two runs. Moriarty also was 1 for 3, while Eli Trevino was 1 for 4.

Max Moriarty took the loss in 5 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and four walks for five earned runs while striking out five.
