Fruhwirth’s eagle eye leads to 99 score
Senior leads Eagles at Minnesota Trap Shooting Championship

ALEXANDRIA — Senior Tilken Fruhwirth had an eagle eye on Tuesday as he led the New Ulm Eagles clay target team during the Minnesota Trap Shooting Championship.
The senior hit 99 of 100 targets, finishing sixth overall out of 301 shooters in the varsity male class. While he was just one bird away from a perfect score, which was only achieved by one shooter in the class by Northfield’s Ian Sevcik, Fruhwirth earned special recognition for hitting 75 straight.
While Fruhwirth led the Eagles, four other shooters had perfect rounds of 25 on Tuesday also as Mason Grussendorf, Levi Kral, Spencer Drill and Lucas Hillesheim all hit 25 straight during the competition. Tate Isaacson had a strong day as well in the varsity male class, hitting 96 targets to finish 19th.
Grussendorf placed second in the JV male class with a 93, while Brecken Augustin hit 92 in the JV male class for a fourth-place finish. McKensie Lilleodden placed sixth in the JV female class with a score of 84, while Addysen Wieland placed ninth in the JV female class with a score of 83.
Cole Voges made the Eagles proud also, leading the way in the novice male class with a first-place finish and score of 86.

Also for New Ulm, Kaybree Schwab placed 11th in the novice female class with a score of 69 and Charley Nosbush placed 12th in the novice female class with a score of 68.
The New Ulm Eagles placed first in the JV class with a team score of 448.
