ARLINGTON — Matt Looft had a dynamic night as he picked up his first feature in the Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature.
He started in the second row behind Dan Menk and tailed him for the first two laps and then passed him on the inside going down the backstretch to take the lead and led the entire rest of the distance as Dan tried to regain the lead several times but he had to settle for second behind Looft.
Looft was a factor again in the B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock car feature as got second, but he had to work a bit harder for it. Andrea McCain led the field around the track to begin with and a first lap yellow was thrown when the 18x of Dan Eckblad made contact with the 110 Ken Tietz as they were driving into Turn 2. After the restart, McCain again led the field for the next four laps with all the action happening behind her. By Lap 6 Eckblad had moved into the top spot and Looft was knocking on her door. The following lap, he got around her and was reeling in on Eckblad. Lap by lap the two raced each other. Cars were falling out with troubles. AJ Zimmerman moved up into third place but couldn’t catch the top two and settled for third behind Looft and Eckblad captured the win.
Austin Jahnz continues his winning streak in the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature moving up 10 spots throughout the caution free race. The early leader was Scott Porter as he led for the first four laps but could not hold off hardcharging Jahnz. By the fifth lap Jahnz had control of the race, he and Chad Volk were contending for the lead. Volk made moves to advance but he had to settle for second ahead of Porter as the checkered came out.
Alan Lahr led every lap of the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature to win the race. Dale Gatton tried to work magic around him but lap by lap he was losing power as his engine was expiring. On Lap 7 Gary Schumacher lost his rear tire off his car bringing out the yellow flag and the tow truck to his car. On the restart, Lahr again took the lead but his time with the 48 of Kevin Madsen trying to take it from him. With only two laps to go, Lahr remained the leader and the 23g of Jack Gatton flew by Madsen to claim second at the end.
The Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature once again saw Karl Hewitt win a clean sweep for the night and take control of the feature race on the third lap. Rod Manthey led the first two laps holding off Craig Groebner and Hewitt, as they entered the half way mark, the 39 of Mike Vogt spun out in the middle of turns 3&4 bringing out a yellow flag. Then a few laps later the 96 of Aaron Simons spun out in Turn 4 bringing out another yellow flag. That gave Jesse Anderson an opportunity to advance as he past Groebner after the restart. Hewitt was too fast for him so he settled for second just ahead of Groebner at the end.
There were three different leaders in the Arlington State Bank IMCA No. Sport Modified feature but before it got started the 2j of Jeff Carter lost power on the parade lap and needed assistance getting back to his pit stall. Matt Schoenke led the first lap under green flag start. By the following lap, Joey Reimers was leading but half way through the race a yellow was thrown for a spinning car. Reimers kept his momentum going leading the field around. Soon though Zac Davis was letting him know that he was in the mix. He had advanced 10 spots and wanted the top spot. Davis took the high side and got around Reimers with only three laps left to claim the feature. Reimers finished second and Eric Larson took third.
The B00 car of Brayden Allen in the IMCA Sprint car feature led the first five laps of the race and had a commanding lead until a yellow came out when drivers hit a barrel on the track. That set up for disappointment for Brayden as his Dad Brett slid underneath him in Turn 2 to take over the lead of the race. For the next 10 laps Brett led the race with Bill Johnson getting faster each lap and trying to gain on Brett. In the end, Brett took the checkers first, Bill Johnson took second and Brayden held on for third ahead of Matt Johnson.
