Shortened, still sweet
Vold, Long Sox no-hit Longhorns in 7 innings
LAMBERTON — While an eight-run bottom of the seventh shortened Lamberton Long Sox pitcher Quintyn Vold’s no-hit performance, it was a no-hitter nonetheless for the right-hander.
Vold struck out nine in seven innings and the Long Sox offense took it from there to shut out the Stark Longhorns 10-0 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game Tuesday night.
After scoring single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, the Long Sox sent eight runners home in the bottom of the seventh to finish the game in seven innings due to the 10-run lead rule.
Jack Hines had two hits and three RBIs for the Long Sox to lead the way, while Hudsen Jenniges had two hits and an RBI, Will Carlson had two hits and Isaac Jenniges had two RBIs.
The Long Sox moved to 4-4 in the TEL with the win, while Stark dropped to 3-4 in the TEL. Lamberton is at Essig on Thursday night for another TEL game, while Stark is at Springfield on Friday night in another TEL game.
