ARLINGTON — Another crash fest occurred in the Jack Pines Resort IMCA Hobby feature at the Arlington Raceway this past Saturday.

Ben Davis was able to lead the race at the start, then RJ Esqueda who started next to him took a hard right going into Turn 2 bringing out the yellow flag. On the restart, Davis again brought the field around the track but yet another yellow came out when the 32 of Chad Volk, 75 of Dan Probst and 75H of Patrick Schauer all collided in Turn 1.

All the cars were out of the race with frame or body damage. Again another restart with Davis leading but this time Taylor Manderfield took the high side and passed him on the backstretch to gain the lead. By the half way mark Manderfield was still leading but yet another yellow came out when Ted Goettl had troubles sending him to the work area with a flat tire. Two laps later Brad Becker who had been trying to reel Manderfield in spun in the bottom of Turn 2 bringing out the last yellow of the race and too exited to the pit. Then, Austin Jahnz, who had started 10th, made his way up front and was directly behind Manderfield but managed to get around him and retain the lead for the last four laps to win the race. Manderfield held on for second and Jordan Robinson took third.

All ten cars started the Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature and all finished. Kevin Madson was the leader but that only lasted for one lap when Dale Gatton who had started behind Madson powered around Madson to take the lead. Three laps later Nate Coopman came calling as well as Gary Schumacher. Madson spun on his own on Lap 8 bringing out the yellow flag. Coopman maintained the lead but Schumacher was able to get around Gatton at the restart and Neil Forsberg followed him. That is how they crossed the checkered flag.

Cody Flewelling led the first two laps of the Olson Snowplowing & Lawn Care Outlaw Hobby feature but he was a little too anxious and was called for jump starting the race. Mike Vogt took over the top spot by Lap 3 with Craig Groebner battling him. Half way through the race Karl Hewitt was challenging Vogt for the lead as Groebner tried to hold onto his second place spot. A yellow was thrown on Lap 12 for the 0x of Mark Oestreich having troubles. Hewitt then took the lead from Vogt at the start and Hewitt went on to win with Vogt taking second and Groebner taking third.

Chris Neisen started on the pole of the Arlington State Bank IMCA No. Sport Modified feature with Alex Barnes next to him. Half way through the race Eric Larson who had started ninth was in the mix challenging both of those drivers. A yellow was thrown for the 24 of Justin Daschner spinning out on the front stretch. At the same time Jeff Carter and Jessie Johnson exited the track. That set Larson up as he took the high side on the restart and got around Neisen for the lead. A few laps later Ben Reierson, who had started next to Larson, was also working on Neisen and on the white flag lap he got around him. AS the checkers were flown, Larson took them first, Reierson second and Neisen held on for third.

The Rice Companies IMCA RaceSaver Sprint feature went flag to flag with Bill Johnson leading the entire 15 laps very comfortable to pick up the win. Trevor Serbus took second and Matt Johnson took third place.

The Ottomotive Tire & Repair IMCA Modified feature was short on cars but the race was exciting. There were three different leaders as Jason Schroeder led the first five laps with Matt Looft seesawing around him to take over the race. Hatlestad put his car on the topside of the track and sailed around Looft in Turn 4 with one lap to go and stayed ahead of him to take the checkered.

The B&B Racing Chassis IMCA Stock Car feature saw five different leaders in the 20 laps. The first was Josh Larson who had started on the front row, next was Dave Moriarty, who also started on the front row. The two jockeyed the front spot for the first 10 laps, then a yellow came out when the 18x of Daniel Eckblad had troubles, On the restart, Dakota Robinson took the high side and blasted past Larson and Moriarty. The following lap, Larson slid of the topside of the track causing another yellow.

That gave Broddy Enter the advantage he had been looking for as he had started behind Robinson and was now in the top spot. Two laps later Robinson went off the top side of Turn 2 and caused another yellow, he then exited to the pit. At the same time Curt Lund was racing on the high side of the track gaining spots but also falling off the track a couple of times, he managed to always come back up without stopping. Enter was holding off the charging Matt Looft as he had moved up 10 stops to battle with Enter but couldn’t get the job done as he finished behind Enter for second and Lund managed to move up to third place.
