Brewers walk by St. James
NEW ULM — The New Ulm Brewers scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth on no hits and then added five more runs in the seventh as they cruised to a 13-3 win over the St. James A’s Sunday in a Tomahawk East League game.
The game was called after seven innings because of the 10-run lead rule.
Mitch Bockenestedt got the win in relief for the Brewers. He went the final four inning and fanned nine while allowing two hits.
David Bradley took the loss for St. James.
Sam Keckeisen was 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Brewers, while Evan Thompson was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. JT Hoffmann was 1 for 3 with a triple and two walks for New Ulm also.
St. James was led at the plate by Lucas Anderson, who was 2 for 3 with an RBI, while Connor Jones was 1 for 2 with an RBI triple in the second inning.
The Brewers were tied at 3-3 in the sixth when they used seven walks and a hit batsman for an 8-3 lead.
New Ulm then pushed five more runs across in the seventh with a Keckeisen two-run double being the big blow.
New Ulm, 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the TEL, is at Milroy for a non-league game Friday.
