MVL/NUC girls take third in section meet
JANESVILLE — The Minnesota Valley Lutheran/New Ulm Cathedral girls track and field team placed third out of 14 teams during the Section 2A True Team meet on Tuesday, while the boys team placed fifth.
St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran won the girls side of the meet with a score of 719, followed by Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton/Waterville-Elysian-Morristown (707.5), MVL/NUC (702.5), Loyola/Cleveland/Mankato Christian Academy (602) and Sibley East (576.5). Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet took sixth (535.5) and River Valley placed eighth (477.5). On the boys side, LCWM/N placed first (696), follwed by Maple River (681.5), JWP/WEM (637), SC/IL/MCA (544) and MVL/NUC (541.5). Sibley East placed seventh (493.5) and River Valley finished ninth (488).
On the girls side, MVL/NUC’s Emily Brown placed fifth in the 100-meter dash (13.23), while River Valley’s Marley Hewitt took third in the 200m (27.38) and Violet Hammer placed fourth in the 200m (27.45). Hewitt also placed second in the 400m (1:02.05), and Sibley East’s Ruby Ballalatak finished fourth in the 800m (2:31.62). Sibley East’s Paige Gardiner placed fourth in the 1,600m (5:39.73), while MVL/NUC’s Natalie Matzke took third in the 3,200 (12:21.97). MVL/NUC’s Kamryn Davey won the 100m hurdles (16.02), with River Valley’s Katie Thram coming in second (16.34), MVL/NUC’s Avery Freier placing third (16.67), LCWM/N’s Lauren Smit placing fourth (16.80) and Sibley East’s Adilynn Odenthal finishing fifth (17.07). Brown took second in the 300m hurdles (48.34), with Thram taking third (48.51). LCWM/N’s Willow Casey won the shot put (34-10), with MVL/NUC’s Jenna Bates (31-2) and Avery Hahn (30-2) taking third and fourth, respectively. LCWM/N’s Matilda Carleton won the discus (99-10), with Bates taking third (90-4). Smit placed fourth in high jump (4-8), and River Valley’s Lydia Dauer finished third in pole vault (8-6). Sibley East’s Emme Eccles placed second in long jump (15-10.25), with Davey coming in fourth (15-3.5), and Davey won the triple jump (35-3.5), with MVL/NUC’s Raegan Tiegs coming in fourth (31-9.25).
For the boys, River Valley’s Parker Kuehn took fourth in the 100m (11.46), with MVL/NUC’s Levi Johnson coming in fifth (11.55). MVL/NUC’s John Hoffman took fourth in the 200m (23.39), with Sibley East’s Aidan McCue coming in fifth (23.63). LCWM/N’s Riddick Schubbe came in fifth in the 400m (53.67), while Sibley East’s Julio Alejandro placed fourth in the 800m (2:08.78). Alejandro also placed second in the 1,600m (4:41.41), with MVL/NUC’s Jeremy Feistner finishing fourth (4:50.99). MVL/NUC’s Max Fischer placed fourth in the 3,200 (11:01.17), with Sibley East’s Aiden Christenson placing fifth (11:03.95). McCue took fourth in the 110m hurdles (16.19). Aidan Moeller won the 300m hurdles for LCWM/N (42.37), MVL/NUC’s Tucker Kohls came in third (42.55) and River Valley’s Cameron Moore placed fifth (44.60). The MVL/NUC 4×100 relay team of Ben Riesgraf, Hoffman, Oliver Schuch and Johnson won (44.70), as did the MVL/NUC 4×200 relay team of Riesgraf, Hoffman, Ethan Schauland and Johnson (1:34.63). LCWM/N’s Drew Turgeon won the shot put (51-6) and placed second in discus (166-1), where MVL/NUC’s Emmanuel Edwards placed fifth (133-7). Sibley East’s Jacksen Pomplun tied for second in high jump (5-10), and LCWM/N’s Levi Freyberg (14-6) and Jacob Miller (12-0) took first and fourth, respectively, in pole vault. LCWM/N’s Riddick Schubbe (20-5.25) and Braxton Dudgeon (20-1.75) took the top two spots in the long jump. McCue won the triple jump (43-0.5), with Dudgeon placing second (41-11.5) and Moeller placing fourth (40-5.5).
