MVL 8, MAPLE RIVER 1 (GAME 1)
MVL 11, MAPLE RIVER 5 (GAME 2)
NEW ULM — Minnesota Valley Lutheran swept Maple River in a South Central Conference baseball doubleheader on Tuesday at Mueller Park, winning Game 1 by a score of 8-1 and taking the second game 11-5.
Kyan Kube got the win on the mound in Game 1, going all seven innings and allowing just three hits and one walks for one earned run while striking out seven. Connor Bode and Rogan Scriver led the Chargers at the plate, each going 2 for 3 with a run scored. Blake Sexton and Noah Merseth each added a hit and two RBIs apiece also for MVL in the opener, while Avery Weisensel doubled and drove in a run.
In Game 2, Bode pitched the complete game for the win, allowing seven hits and two walks for five unearned runs while striking out three. Sexton led MVL at the plate, going 3 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Aiden Eckberg was 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Grayson Bode was 2 for 3. Scriver added a hit, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Kube had a hit and three RBIs.
MVL (7-6, 5-3) travels to Fairfax to take on Gibbon-Fairfax-WInthrop in a nonconference game on Friday.
SIBLEY EAST 5, LCWM 4
GAYLORD — The Sibley East Wolverines got a walk-off single from Nathan Schauer to top the Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial Knights 5-4 Tuesday in a South Central Conference baseball game.
The Wolverines were held to three hits in the win, with Carson Schmidt tripling and Will Feterl singling in addition to Schauer’s game-winning hit. Logan Friedrich had two RBIs also for Sibley East. Schauer also started on the mound and went 5 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and seven walks for two earned runs while striking out five. Ben Fredrichs got the win in 1 2/3 innings of relief, allowing four hits and a walk for two earned runs while striking out one.
Landon Sanderson got the start for the Knights, going 5 2/3 innings and allowing two hits and three walks for one earned run while fanning 14. Gavin Larson took the loss in one inning of work, allowing one walk and one hit for one earned run while striking out one. At the plate, Sanderson was 1 for 2 with a double, two RBIs and two walks, while Brayden Mathews was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Sibley East (9-4, 6-1) hosts Belle Plaine on Thursday, while LCWM (6-7, 4-4) is at Triton on Thursday.
TMB 4, WABASSO 3
WABASSO — Wabasso fell to Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 4-3 on Tuesday in a nonconference baseball game.
Drew Kemp took the loss on the mound in six innings, allowing six hits and three walks for two earned runs while striking out seven. Brady Baune pitched the seventh and didn’t allow any hits, walks or runs. Jayden Remiger led Wabasso with two singles, while Kemp doubled.
Wabasso (3-11) hosts Lester Prairie in a Tomahawk doubleheader on Tuesday.

NEW ULM 10, BELLE PLAINE 7
BELLE PLAINE — New Ulm defeated Belle Plaine 10-7 in a Big South Conference softball game on Tuesday.
Miley Flor got the win for the Eagles, striking out four while allowing two runs on four hits and one walk in five innings. At the plate, Karly Meier was 2 for 3 with two home runs, while Natalie Fischer was 2 for 3 with three RBIs. Megan Brudelie was 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI.
New Ulm (8-3, 6-2) hosts Worthington on Thursday.
WABASSO 16, LESTER PRAIRIE 1 (GAME 1, 4 INNINGS)
WABASSO 16, LESTER PRAIRIE 0 (GAME 2, 5 INNINGS)
LESTER PRAIRIE — Wabasso rolled Lester Prairie in a Tomahawk Division softball doubleheader on Tuesday, winning the opener 16-1 in four innings and the second game 16-0 in five innings.
Both games ended early due to the 15- and 10-run mercy rule.
In game 1, Wabasso was led by Macy Rohlik, who was 2 for 4 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored, while Audrey Johnson was 2 for 3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Alexa Remiger and Kayleigha Johnson also each had a double and an RBI apiece. Delaina Eis pitched four innings in the win, allowing three hits and a walk for one earned run while striking out six.
In Game 2, Eis was 3 for 3 with three doubles and two runs scored to lead the Wabasso bats, while Aylah Jenniges was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Kayleigha Johnson was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Camryn Irlbeck also was 2 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored, while Peyton Jenniges was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Cassie Bliss was 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, Audrey Johnson was 1 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Rohlik added a triple and two runs scored. Aylah Jenniges pitched five innings in the win, allowing just two hits and no walks while striking out eight.
Wabasso (13-4, 10-4) hosts a tournament on Saturday.
NICOLLET 12, JWP 8
NICOLLET — Nicollet defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 12-8 in a nonconference softball game on Tuesday.
Brielle Osborne earned the win for Nicollet, striking out three while allowing eight runs on eight hits and four walks. At the plate, Jazmyn Goettlicher was 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, while Taylor Wilking was 3 for 3 with a triple, a double and three RBIs.
Nicollet (13-5) plays a doubleheader at Cleveland on Thursday.
MAPLE RIVER 11, MVL 5 (GAME 1)
MAPLE RIVER 17, MVL 2 (GAME 2, 4 INNINGS)
MAPLETON — Minnesota Valley Lutheran dropped a pair of a games of a South Central Conference softball doubleheader on Tuesday to Maple River, falling 11-5 in Game 1 and 17-2 in Game 2.
Game 2 was called in the fourth due to the 15-run lead rule.
In Game 1, Avery Menk led MVL at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a solo homer, while Nora Grace Otto was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Sophia Dalueg added a double and an RBI. Otto took the loss in Game 1, striking out four and allowing 12 hits and six walks for seven earned runs in six innings.
In Game 2, Grace Onken was 2 for 2 with an RBI to lead MVL, while Dalueg had a hit and an RBI and Jess Meunier had a hit and a run scored. Norah Rodewald took the loss in the circle in two innings, allowing 11 hits and three walks for nine earned runs.
MVL (4-12, 2-6) hosts Le Sueur-Henderson in an SCC doubleheader on Tuesday.

SLEEPY EYE — Martin County West defeated Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 7-0 in a nonconference softball game on Tuesday.
Natalie Zarn took the loss for St. Mary’s, striking out four while allowing seven runs on eight hits with five walks. At the plate, Taylor Mathiowetz had a triple, while Nell Weiss and Jaylynn Sellner each had a hit.
St. Mary’s (7-8) plays Sleepy Eye in a doubleheader on Thursday.

SANBORN — Minnesota Valley Lutheran swept a nonconference golf meet on Tuesday at Farmers Health & Golf Club, with the MVL boys beating Wabasso and Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart and the girls defeating Wabasso.
No BLHS girls participated in the meet.
MVL’s Philip Lukasek was the boys medalist with a 40, while Wabasso’s Brayden Guetter shot a 46 for second and MVL’s Jacksen Gerdts shot a 47 for third. Wabasso’s Paxten Guetter carded a 49 for fourth, while BLHS’s John Willert shot a 51 for fifth.
MVL’s Annika Lowrey was the girls medalist with a 51, while Wabasso’s Alexis Jensen took second with a 52 and MVL’s Eden Grubbs took third with a 59. Wabasso’s Britta Brand and Josie Wiese shot a 61 and 62 for fourth and fifth, respectively.

SLEEPY EYE — The Sleepy Eye United golf team split a nonconference golf meet on Tuesday, with the girls team winning 195-199 and the boys falling 145-152.
SEU’s Sam Price was the girls medalist with a 44, while teammate Kiara Murphy shot a 48 for second. SEU’s Nolan Kucera was the boys medalist with a 35, while teammate Blaine Arneson tied for second with a 36.

WASECA 5, NEW ULM 2
NEW ULM — New Ulm dropped a Big South Conference boys tennis meet at home on Tuesday to Waseca 5-2.
New Ulm got wins at No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles. At No. 4 singles, Griffin Lehne defeated Korbin Collins 6-4, 5-7, 6-2. At No. 3 doubles, Hayden Owens and Cole Frederick defeated Jacob Harguth and Nick Nelson 6-4, 6-2.

NEW ULM BOYS, GIRLS TAKE 7TH AT TRUE TEAM MEET
ST. PETER — New Ulm placed seventh on both the boys and girls side of the Section 2AA True Team Meet on Monday.
George Gag led the Eagles boys, placing second in the 200m (23.05), while also helping the 4×100 relay team win, along with Hunter Heil, Jamison Portner and Jackson Ocampo (45.10), and taking third in the 4×400 relay along with Michael Hames, Jayden Broster and Brody Powers. In the 100m, Heil took third (11.20) and Portner placed fourth (11.35), Hames placed fourth in the 400m (53.09).
On the girls side of the meet, Zoey Havemeier placed ninth in the 100m (13.34), while Isabelle Longtin took 10th in the 100m hurdles (18.13). Ellie Dake took sixth in shot put (31-10) and seventh in discus (92-08), and Jesalyn Skoglund finished fourth in high jump (5-02). KayLee Evans placed fifth in triple jump (33-1) while Sophie Berger took ninth (32-02).
