NEW ULM — New Ulm represented its home course well Monday at the New Ulm Country Club, taking second out of seven teams in the third Big South Conference, Black Division Boys Golf Event of the season.

St. Peter won the 18-hole event with a score of 307, ahead of New Ulm (314), Marshall (320), Waseca (351), Tri-City United (358), Belle Plaine (372) and Worthington (379).

St. Peter’s Ethan Moreau finished as the medalist with an even-par 71, while teammates Kade Mata and Owen Matejcek tied for second with 74s. Eagles sophomore Brandt Munson turned in a 77 to finish fourth, while Marshall’s Elijah Winn and Luke Ehlers tied for fifth with 78s.

Munson, who had a shaky start on Hole 2, was all smiles after sinking a putt more than 40 feet from the pin to par the hole. Munson also birdied on the ninth hole.

New Ulm seniors Brecken Neuman and Jaxon Buegler, along with junior teammate Colton Anderson, all tied for seventh with 79s. Neuman started the front nine by shooting even par but ran into some trouble from Holes 10-15. He responded well to end his day, however, getting pars on Holes 16 and 17 before sinking a birdie on the 18th hole.
