Cathedral 97, Mayer Lutheran 72
MAYER -- New Ulm Cathedral saw five players in double figures Friday night as the Greyhounds rolled to a 97-72 win over Mayer Lutheran in a nonconference boys basketball game.
Jake Finstad led the Greyhounds with 23 points and three assists, while Jevan Wilfahrt had 20 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Also for Cathedral, Elliott Hoffman had 16 points and eight rebounds, Zach Gieseke had 16 points and Ben Blomberg had 12 points.
Cathedral (14-12) awaits Section 2A playoff seedings. The Section 2A tourney begins March 1.
Sleepy Eye 48, Loyola 42
SLEEPY EYE -- Sleepy Eye earned its fourth consecutive win with a 48-42 victory over Mankato Loyola on Friday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.
Isaac Lendt led the way for Sleepy Eye with 20 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Landon Wendinger had 16 points, 15 rebounds and seven blocks. Also for Sleepy Eye, Marcus Martinez added 4 points and seven rebounds.
Sleepy Eye (18-8) awaits playoff seedings next for the Section 2A tourney, which begins March 1.
WEM 74, Nicollet 49
WATERVILLE -- Waterville-Elysian-Morristown defeated Nicollet 74-49 on Friday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.
Nicollet was led by Keegan Hulke and Carson Kettner, who each had 14 points. Conner Martens added 12 points also for the Raiders.
Nicollet (0-24) awaits playoff seedings next for the Section 2A tourney, which begins March 1.
