Sleepy Eye 61, WEM 41
SLEEPY EYE – Sleepy Eye rolled to a 2-0 start this season with a 61-41 win over Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in nonconference girls basketball action Saturday on the final day of the Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s Tip-Off.
Sleepy Eye was led by Kadence Hesse’s 29 points, seven assists, six rebounds and five steals, while Brea Mertz added 14 points and eight boards. Paige Haala also chipped in 8 points for the Indians while adding five steals and three assists.
Adrian-Ellsworth 53, Springfield 33
SPRINGFIELD — Adrian-Ellsworth downed Springfield 53-33 Saturday in a nonconference girls basketball game.
Brooklyn Sturm led the Tigers with 7 points, nine rebounds and two steals, while Jasmine Novotny had 6 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Jada Reese added 4 points and five steals for Springfield.
Springfield (0-1) hosts Red Rock Central on Thursday.
