NEW ULM — The Martin Luther College volleyball team dropped its home match Tuesday evening against the No. 5-ranked Northwestern Eagles 3-0 (11-25, 11-25, 10-25).

The Knights would have difficulty overcoming the depth and length of the Eagles’ front row, as Northwestern had 37 kills, five errors, on 84 attempts for a hitting percentage of .381.

With the win, Northwestern extended their conference set streak to 76, with their last set loss coming in 2021 to Bethany.

Ella Walz had a team-high in assists (12) and digs (9), while Abigail Winkel led the Knights in kills with six in the three sets played.

Despite the loss for MLC, the Knights remain in fourth place and are in good shape to remain there for the final three conference matches.

Up next for the Knights (8-15, 6-5) is their final home match of the season this Friday, October 27, against North Central. There, the volleyball team will honor the five seniors playing their last home match on “Senior Night”, with the match starting at 7 p.m. in the LSC.
