Greyhounds go 2-2 at WEM tourney

WATERVILLE — New Ulm Cathedral went 2-2 on Saturday at the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Tournament.

The Greyhounds defeated Grand Meadow and St. Clair and fell to NOVA Academy and Cleveland.

Jenna Hotovec led the Greyhounds on the day with 28 kills and 24 digs, while Shay Wilfahrt had 23 kills and 26 digs. Also for Cathedral, Madelyn Haala had 58 set assists, 31 digs and six aces, while Jaylin Hartness had 37 digs and 10 kills and Alexa Hornick had 43 digs.

Cathedral (4-4) is at Sleepy Eye on Tuesday for Tomahawk Conference action.

Rabbits take 4th at Montevideo tourney

MONTEVIDEO — The Wabasso Rabbits finished 2-2 at the Montevideo Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

The Rabbits fell to Paynesville 20-25, 25-23, defeated Montevideo 25-19, 25-16, beat Dawson-Boyd 25-19, 25-10 and fell to Renville County West 20-25, 22-25.

Alivia Olson led the Rabbits on the day in kills with 33, while Avery Carlson had 17 kills and Camryn Irlbeck had 14. Avery Carlson also led the Rabbits with seven aces on the day, while Lyla Kittelson had five aces.

Audrey Johnson led Wabasso in digs on the day with 34, while Sara Carlson had 21 digs and 70 set assists. Olson also led Wabasso in blocks at the tourney with four.

Wabasso (5-3) hosts Cedar Mountain on Tuesday.

Cedar Mountain goes 2-2 at Montevideo tourney

MONTEVIDEO — The Cedar Mountain cougars went 2-2 at the Montevideo Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

The Cougars defeated Ashby 25-6, 25-5, fell to Renville County West 19-25, 18-25, fell to BOLD 16-25, 17-25 and defeated Dawson-Boyd 25-14, 25-16.

Hailey Hollar led the Cougars on the day with 25 kills, while Aubrey Steffl had 23 kills and Reagyn Kleinschmidt had 13 kills. Kylie Koerner led the Cougars in digs with 34, while Steffl had 30 and Hollar had 28. Kendra Erickson had 61 set assists on the day for the Cougars.

Cedar Mountain travels to Wabasso on Tuesday.

Madelia goes 1-2 at Sleepy Eye tournament

SLEEPY EYE — The Madelia Blackhawks went 1-2 at the Sleepy Eye Volleyball Tournament on Saturday.

The Blackhawks fell to Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s 22-25, 25-21, fell to BLHS 25-15, 25-21, then defeated Mankato Loyola 25-11, 25-12.

Ashlynn Sweet led Madelia with 15 kills, 10 digs and seven total blocks, while Makayla Sorenson had nine kills and seven digs. Ashley Sorenson had 29 set assists with 19 digs and six aces, while Jada Taylor had 24 digs, three set assists and three aces.

Madelia travels to Martin County West on Thursday.
