STARK -- The Springfield Tigers knocked off the Stark Longhorns 9-3 on Wednesday night in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The Tigers moved to 10-5 in TEL play with the win and were led by Mason Rummel, who was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Decker Scheffler, who was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a double. Sam Baier also went 2 for 5 with two RBIs for the Tigers, while Jacob Poehler was 2 for 6 with three RBIs.
Jakob Nachreiner got the win on the mound in five innings, allowing four hits and four walks for two earned runs while striking out five. Jordan Milbrath pitched four innings of relief for the Tigers, striking out nine while allowing just one walk.
Stark, now 12-3 in the TEL, was led by Nick Labat, who was 2 for 4. Arian Saenz and Adam Sellner each added a hit and an RBI for the Longhorns also.
Sellner took the loss in three innings, allowing six hits and no walks for four earned runs while striking out two. Jon Kopacek pitched six innings in relief of Sellner and allowed six hits and four walks for one earned run while striking out five.
Stark is at Sleepy Eye for a 7:30 p.m. game Friday night, while Springfield travels to Leavenworth for a 7:30 p.m. game Friday.
