Wabasso roundup: Rabbits softball team stays alive in 3A tourney

MARSHALL — After falling to top-seeded Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg 13-12, second-seeded Wabasso charged on in the elimination bracket of the Section 3A Softball Tournament with a 17-0 four-inning shutout of Murray County Central on Saturday.
In the loss to KMS, Kelsey Frank led the way for the Rabbits at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a double and four RBIs. Addisyn Hillesheim was 3 for 4 with three runs scored also for Wabasso, while Sophia Hanna was 2 for 4 with a homer and four RBIs and Callie Burns had three RBIs.
In the win over MCC, Avery Carlson was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI to lead Wabasso, while Kelsey Frank connected on a grand slam. Annabelle Struntz also was 2 for 2 with an RBI for the Rabbits, while Macy Rohlik was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a double.

PREP BASEBALL
Edgerton/SWC 4, Wabasso 2
RUTHTON — Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian held off Wabasso 4-2 in a Section 3A Baseball Tournament game on Saturday.
Noah Anderson homered for the Rabbits, while Adryen Tietz added a triple and an RBI.
Joe Liebl took the loss in five innings, allowing six hits and four walks for one earned run while striking out nine. Tietz pitched a scoreless sixth for Wabasso, striking out all three batters he faced.
Wabasso ends its season with a 10-7 record.
