NEW ULM -- This weekend, the New Ulm Civic Center will be hosting both the PeeWee A and PeeWee AA State Hockey Tournaments.
PeeWee AA teams and their fans will be coming from Chaska/Chanhassen, Andover, Osseo-Maple Grove, Hermantown, Minnetonka, Rogers, Moorhead and Woodbury.
PeeWee A teams are from River Lakes, Delano, Roseville, Hibbing/Chisholm, Minneapolis, Mankato, Warroad and Woodbury.
Games begin Friday in both classes with Class AA at 10 a.m., with Class A starting at 10:30 a.m., and continuing all day and through the weekend.
Ticket prices for the tournament are: Adult Weekend Pass (3-days) $20, Adult Day Pass (1 day) $10, Senior (55 and over) and student (11-17) 3-day pass $10, Senior (55 and over) and student (11-17) Day pass $8.
Tournament programs will also be on sale for $3.
For hockey fans, this is a great opportunity to watch some of the best teams and players in the 11- to 13-year-old range.
And a weekend state tournament with 16 teams, coaches, players, their parents and fans coming to New Ulm for three days has a big economic impact here.
Local hotels, bars and restaurants, gas stations, etc will benefit financially from this tournament.
And it will be an opportunity to showcase the New Ulm Civic Center to out-of-town people -- many of whom may go on tours around the city.
