SPRINGFIELD -- Sleepy Eye St. Mary's remained perfect in the Tomahawk Conference this season as it held off Springfield 66-64 Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game.
St. Mary's was led by Will Walter's 25 points, four rebound and two steals, while Kaleb Wait had 16 points and four rebounds and Owen Weiss had 7 points, five rebounds and four steals.
Springfield was led by Brayden Sturm's 26 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Noah Vogel had 14 points and five rebounds, Ben Potter had 10 points and Bryan Buerkle had 8 points and six rebounds.
St. Mary's (9-2, 6-0) travels to take on Cedar Mountain in a 2:30 p.m. conference game Saturday, while Springfield (3-5, 3-2) is at Wabasso for a conference game Tuesday night.
GFW 61, Cathedral 57, OT
WINTHROP -- GIbbon-Fairfax-Winthrop held off New Ulm Cathedral 61-57 in overtime Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game.
GFW was led by Dominic Rose's 21 points, while Brayden Rubendall had 16 points and Easton Taylor had 9 points.
Cathedral was led by Jevan Wilfahrt's 23 points, 15 rebounds and six assists, while Jake Finstad had 20 points and Isaac Miller had eight rebounds.
GFW (5-5, 2-3) is at LeSueur-Henderson for a nonconference game on Monday night, while Cathedral (2-7, 1-6) is at Mankato Loyola for a 6:30 p.m. game Saturday.
Worthington 61,
New Ulm 54
WORTHINGTON -- No. 19 Worthington gave No. 13 New UIm its first conference loss of the season with a 61-54 win Friday night in a Big South Conference boys basketball game.
The Eagles were led by Colton Benson's 27 points, while Nate Firle had 8 points and Mason Epper added 6.
Worthington was led by Kaleb Knothe's 20 points.
New Ulm (9-3, 3-1) is at Norwood Young America for a nonconference game on Tuesday night.
Alden-Conger 80,
Nicollet 64
NICOLLET -- Alden-Conger took down Nicollet 80-64 on Friday evening in a Valley Conference boys basketball game.
Conner Martens and Grant Bruns each scored 22 points to lead the Raiders in defeat.
Nicollet (1-10, 1-6) hosts New Ulm Cathedral on Monday night.
Wabasso 75, BLHS 73
HECTOR -- Wabasso held off Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 75-73 on Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boys basketball game.
The Rabbits were led in victory by Noah Anderson and Karson Bock, who each scored 22 points. Tristan Larson added 13 points also for Wabasso.
Connor McColley led the Mustangs with 24 points, while Carter Macik had 13.
Wabasso (3-6, 2-3) is at Canby on Monday, while BLHS (2-8, 2-3) is at Sibley East High School on Monday.
BOLD 88,
Cedar Mountain 59
MORGAN -- BOLD downed Cedar Mountain 88-59 on Friday night in a nonconference boys basketball game.
Cedar Mountain was led by Branndon Pendleton's 20 points, while Blake Schueller added 14 points and seven rebounds and Dakota Pendleton Sam had 8 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
Cedar Mountain hosts Sleepy Eye St. Mary's in a 2:30 p.m. Tomahawk Conference game Saturday.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
MLA/C 64, Nicollet 53
NICOLLET -- Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey defeated Nicollet 64-53 on Friday night in a nonconference girls basketball game.
Leah Bode led the Raiders in defeat with 18 points, while Brooklyn Bode had 10 points and eight rebounds. Hatti Hansen added 10 points also for Nicollet.
MLA/C was led by Brooke Naas' 20 points.
Nicollet (6-8) hosts New Ulm Cathedral in a 5:45 p.m. nonconference game Monday.
GIRLS HOCKEY
New Ulm 7, Windom 1
WINDOM -- New Ulm cruised to a 7-1 win over Windom on Friday night in a Big South Conference girls hockey game.
New Ulm had all seven goals come off the stick of a different player, with Madalyn Olson, Mya Hornick, Jada Rahe, Brooke Arneson, Michelle Smith, Malorie Anderson and Jerey Haugen score a goal. Afton Hulke had three assists also for New Ulm, while Evelyn Sellner, Hornick, Smith, Anderson each added a helper.
New Ulm goalie Ava Brennan stopped 22 shots.
New Ulm travels to take on Dodge Countyon Tuesday night.
