Knights battle back, top Westminster

NEW ULM — Martin Luther College came back to top Westminster College (MO) 10-7 on Saturday in a Division 3 football game.

The low-scoring affair started with a 1-yard touchdown run by Jordan Kern to put Westminster (1-7) up 7-0 with 6:49 left to play in the first quarter. The Knights (2-7) tied things up on a 7-yard TD run by quarterback Max Nordlie with 37 seconds left to play in the opening half and later got the game-winning 20-yard field goal off the leg of Micah Koschnitzke with 13:25 left to play.

Nordlie led the Knights with his legs, rushing for 70 yards on 11 carries, while Rees Roecker ran for 66 yards on 29 carries. On defense for MLC, Cooper Knoll recorded eight total tackles and a sack, while Nathan Golisch had an interception and Adam Arroswmith forced a fumble and recorded 1 1/2 sacks.
