MLC roundup: Knights sweep Polars

NEW ULM — The Martin Luther College volleyball team rebounded from a sweep loss to the University of Minnesota Morris on Friday night, sweeping Crown University 25-14, 25-21, 25-9 in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball action on Saturday.
Grace Kieselhorst led the Knights with eight kills, nine set assists and two aces, while Lydia Feidt had seven kills and a block and Hannah Willems had six kills, four aces two blocks. Kylie Wolf had 15 set assists for MLC, while Naomi Bridgemen had 11 digs, Lauren Paulsen had 10 digs and two aces and Ella Schlei added a block.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
UMM 47, MLC 0
MORRIS — The University of Minnesota Morris shut out Martin Luther College 47-0 on Saturday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference football game.
UMM had 450 total yards of offense and held MLC to 145 yards.
MLC quarterback Max Nordlie completed 8 of 14 passes for 67 yards and an interception while also rushing for 33 yards on 15 carries. Rees Roecker had 21 carries for 77 yards also for MLC, while Mason Cox had three catches for 27 yards and Cory Tipton had three catches for 15 yards.
On defense, the Knights were led by Isaiah Pederson’s nine total tackles, while Nathan Golisch had eight total tackles.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
MLC 0, Crown 0
SAINT BONIFACIUS — Martin Luther College and Crown College played to a 0-0 tie on Saturday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference women’s soccer game.
Crown outshot the Knights 14-7 overall. Knights goalie Grace Sievert had 10 saves.
Hannah Schroeder led the MLC attack with three shots on goal.
MEN’S SOCCER
Crown 4, MLC 1
SAINT BONIFACIUS — Crown College took down Martin Luther College 4-1 on Saturday in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference men’s soccer game.
Crown scored all four of its goals in the first half, while MLC’s goal game in the 82 minute from Johannes Bourman. Bourman’s goal was assisted on by Xander Heiman.
Knights goalie Adam Rosenbaum had three saves and the Knights were outshot 12-2 overall.
