Brandel to be inducted into BLC Athletic HOF on Friday

MANKATO — Lee Brandel, a 1998 Minnesota Valley Lutheran graduate, will take his spot in the Bethany Lutheran College Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday.
Brandel played baseball at BLC from 1999-2000 and was the starting catcher both seasons. He hit .363 as a freshman and helped the Vikings win two Minnesota Community College Conference (MCCC) titles. Lee was named All-Southern Division First-team and All-Region for his sophomore season.
He continued his baseball career playing for the Minot Greenheads of the Northwoods Collegiate League and Concordia University-St. Paul, where he was First-Team All-Conference and was an Academic All-American.
Brandel currently lives in Loretto, Minnesota, with his wife, Jodi, and their two children, Laura and Lucas. At Concordia, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting and Finance, and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He is employed at LBC Construction.
He is a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Greenfield, Minnesota. He has always been active in churches he has been a member of by serving as the treasurer, on the board of trustees, board of education, and on building committees. He is also involved with coaching his children’s basketball and baseball teams.
The BLC Athletic Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Rudolph E. Honsey Hall. Brandel will be introduced by coach Art Westphal.
