SPRINGFIELD — Springfield scored all of its points in the first half as the Tigers crushed Wabasso on Friday in a Southwest District football game.
The Tiger’s Sam Pidde ran the opening kickoff back for a 79-yard touchdown. Ashtin Johnson had 116 yards rushing and one touchdown. Jakob Nachreiner had 261 yards passing with four touchdowns and one rushing touchdown, while MaCoy Krick added 103 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Carter Olson added 105 receiving yards and one touchdown for the Tigers, while Brayden Strum caught one touchdown passing.
Sam Rummel, Kody Bast, Johnson and James Filzen each had a sack. Blaine Anderson, Nachreiner, Gavin Vanderwerf and Dalton Langseth all had fumble recoveries.
Quarterback Aydren Tietz went 11 for 21 for 74 yards passing for the Rabbits. Calvin Hanna rushed 17 times for 46 yards.
Springfield will travel to face Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Friday. Wabasso will host Minnesota Valley Lutheran at 3 p.m. on Sept. 24.
GFW 36, Cleveland 6
CLEVELAND — Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop downed Cleveland on Friday in a Mid Southeast District football game.
Dominic Rose was 4 for 8 for 109 yards with three touchdowns for the Thunderbirds. Nick TenEyck rushed 14 times for 86 yards and two touchdowns. Justin Messner rushed 10 times for 87 yards.
Rex Monson had one reception for 62 yards and a touchdown, Garret Schmidt had one reception for 36 yards and a touchdown and Ashton Buboltz had two receptions for 11 yards and a touchdown.
Dylan Bernstein had 6 1/2 tackles with five solo tackles and three assists. Monson added five solo tackles and two assists. Rose had an interception.
GFW will host Medford on Friday in its homecoming game.
Adrian Area 35, Sleepy Eye 8
ADRIAN — Adrian Area topped Sleepy Eye 35-8 on Friday in Southwest District football game.
Arian Saenz had Sleepy Eye’s lone touchdown of the game on a 4-yard run.
Sleepy Eye will host New Ulm Cathedral on Friday.
