ST. JAMES -- Luverne held Springfield Legion Post 257 to two hits on Friday on the way to a 6-1 win in the Division 2, Southwest Sub-State Legion Baseball Tournament.
The loss drops Springfield into the elimination bracket, where it plays St. James at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. James.
Springfield was held at bay for most of the game before Tate Mathiowetz broke up Luverne's perfect-game effort on a single. Jakob Nachreiner then had an RBI double to erase the shutout.
Nachreiner also pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up six earned runs on eight hits in the loss.
