Schwarzrock breaks GFW discus record
LE SUEUR — Olivia Schwarzrock broke the Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) discus record at the Giant Relays May 13.
Schwarzrock won the discus with a 133-feet, 8-inch toss, breaking Abby Busch’s school record set in 2009, by one inch. Schwarzrock also won the shot put with a personal best 39-feet, 8.5 inch heave.
Mady Steele was second in the 1,600 run with a personal best 5:39.88. Brynn Busse was fourth in the 800 and high jump. Kelby Bruns was fourth in long jump, Manuela Gutierrez was fifth. Abby Willegal was sixth in the 800.
The girls 4×100 relay team of Katia Gomez Toleheff, Kiley Stoll, Lara Zaia and Gutierrez was third in 1:03.44. The 4×200 relay of Gutierrez, Kelby Bruns, Stoll and Piper Smith-Beebe was fifth in 2:08.67. The 4×400 relay team of Lexi Rettig, Willegal, Steele and Busse was fifth.
Sibley East won the girls meet with 165 points. Cathedral/MVL was second at 138. GFW as fifth with 65.5.
Treay Taylor won the 100 in 11.45 and helped the combined 800 sprint medley relay win in 1:47.94. Others in the combined 800 were Bruns, Gutierrez and Justin Messner.
The 4×100 relay team of Messner, Easton Taylor, Jack Panitzke and Taylor won in 46.04.
Alex Johnson was second in the discus and shot at 135-6 and 42-5.5.
The combined distance medley relay team of Regie Santos, Steele, Garrett Stegeman and Busse was fourth in 4:45.07.
The 4×200 relay team of Victor Galgleish, Santos, Jesus Munoz and Gael Maimi was fifth in 1:50.55. The 4×400 relay team of Messner, Easton Taylor, Garret Schmidt and Panitzke was fifth.
Panitzke was third in the 800 in 2:14.88 and Munoz was fifth in 2:20.2. Easton Taylor was fourth in the long jump and Schmidt was fifth.
Schmidt was sixth in the 300 hurdles and Galgleish was 10th.
Santos was fifth in the 400, Brennir Peterson fifth in the high jump and Maimi was sixth in the triple jump.
Sibley East won the boys meet with 152.5 points, MVL/Cathedral was second at 114. Mountain Lake-Comfrey was third at 95 and GFW fourth at 78.
