Goblirsch, Erickson lead Tomahawk tourney after 1st leg
BUFFALO LAKE — After the first leg of the Tomahawk Conference Golf Tournament concluded on Wednesday at Oakdale Golf Club, New Ulm Cathedral’s Kayla Goblirsch and Sleepy Eye United’s Carson Erickson sat at the top of the leaderboard.
Goblirsch leads all girls’ golfers by 18 or more strokes as she finished with an 18-hole score of 77. Cedar Mountain’s Morgan Engholm currently sits in second place after recording a 95, followed by Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop’s Jenna Schweiss (102), Minnesota Valley Lutheran’s Abbie Riederer (105) and Cedar Mountain’s Keanna Hultquist (106). There were five incomplete girls’ teams, but Cedar Mountain currently leads the way after turning in a 437, followed by SEU (477) and MVL (495).
Erickson shot a 72 on Wednesday to lead the way for the boys, while MVL’s Ben Pearson was close behind with a 79. SEU also had Jacob Schultz turn in an 83 to finish third, while Springfield’s Christopher Thram shot an 84 for fourth and Cathedral’s Owen Strei shot an 87 for fifth.
SEU leads all boys’ teams in the tournament after turning in a 338, followed by Cathedral (358), Springfield (365), MVL (383), Cedar Mountain (386), Wabasso (399), GFW (430) and Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart (478).
The second leg of the tournament will take place on Monday at the New Ulm Country Club.
