The Knights scored three times in the second inning thanks to run-scoring hits from Emma Berg and Hannah Rassat, and then added three more on a Berg double with the bases loaded in the fifth inning to take a 6-0 lead.

Needing two more runs to end the game in the sixth inning, Lisa Hoffer doubled home Jordyn Heckendorf for one run, and Elena Hoffman ended the game with a single that scored Hoffer.

Heckendorf led MLC at the plate with three hits.

MLC 17, MBU 1

The Knights scored 13 runs in the first two innings on the way to a 17-1 win in the rain in Game 2.

The Sabercats jumped in front with one run in the top of the first inning, but the Knights responded with seven runs in the first and six more in the second inning.

The Knights finished the game with nine hits, but took advantage of seven free passes and three errors. Nine different MLC hitters scored at least one run, while eight different players recorded at least one hit. Hoffman led the offensive effort with two hits, three runs scored and three runs batted in.

Jessica Horn (2-5) overcame the early run and shut the door the rest of the way, earning the win after allowing one run on three hits while striking out four.

The Knights will return to action Wednesday when they host Bethany Lutheran College in a doubleheader.
