MORGAN -- Megan Sandgren scored her 1,000th career point on Thursday for Cedar Mountain as the Cougars cruised to a 62-31 win over Renville County West in a Section 2A, North Subsection playoff play-in game.
Sandgren had 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Cougars. She needed 20 points coming into the game t hit 1,000 career points.
Also for Cedar Mountain, Teresa Larsen had 13 points and Aubrey Steffl had an 11-assist, 13-rebound double-double.
The eighth-seeded Cougars now travel to take on No. 1-seeded Mayer Lutheran at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
KM 73, New Ulm 49
KASSON -- Kasson-Mantorville topped New Ulm 73-49 on Thursday in a nonconference girls' basketball game.
New Ulm was led by Morgan Hulke's 16 points, while Kirsten Dennis had 9 points and Brooklyn Lewis added 7.
New Ulm is at Worthington Friday.
YME 76, St. Mary's 74
GRANITE FALLS -- Yellow Medicine East upset Sleepy Eye St. Mary's 76-74 on Thursday night in a nonconference girls' basketball game.
The Knights were led by Madison Mathiowetz's 41 points, 14 rebounds, six steals and three assists. Also for the Knights, Liz Schwint had 12 points and five rebounds, while Natalie Fischer had 12 points.
YME was led by Shelby Mortenson's 24 points, while Hannah Stark had 20 points.
The Knights, the top seed in the Section 2A, South Subsection playoffs, host No. 9-seeded Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in playoff action.
Sleepy Eye 58, BLHS 53
SLEEPY EYE -- Sleepy Eye topped Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart 58-53 on Thursday night in a Tomahawk Conference girls' basketball game.
The Indians were led by Brea Mertz's 19 points, six rebounds and five blocks. Kadence Hesse also had 18 points, 18 rebounds, and three blocks for Sleepy Eye, while Kaydince Thoms had 14 points and three steals.
Sleepy Eye, the No. 2 seed in the Section 2A, South Subsection playoffs, will host Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in playoff action.

Cedar Mountain 59,
GFW 52
WINTHROP -- Cedar Mountain held off Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 59-52 on Thursday in a Tomahawk Conference boys' basketball game.
Cedar Mountain was led by Branndon Pendleton's 29 points, while Dakota Pendleton-Sam had 12 points.
GFW was led by Brody Hentges' 15 points, while Dominic Rose had 11 points, Ashton Bubolz added 10 points and Easton Taylor had 9.
GFW is at Norwood Young America on Friday night, while Cedar Mountain hosts Renville County West on Friday night.
St. Mary's 55,
Mayer Lutheran 50
SLEEPY EYE -- Sleepy Eye St. Mary's held off Mayer Lutheran 55-50 on Thursday night in a nonconference boys' basketball game.
The Knights were led by Trent Steffensmeier's 19 points, three assists and three steals, while Carson Domeier had 14 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and four steals.
St. Mary's travels to Mountain Lake for a nonconference game on Monday night.
BLHS 56, Sleepy Eye 49
HECTOR -- Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart topped Sleepy Eye 56-49 on Thursday night in a Tomahawk Conference boys' basketball game.
The Indians were led by Erizen Traconis' 13 points and seven assists, while Isaac Lendt had 11 points and three assists and Mason Sellner had 11 points and three steals.
No stats were provided for BLHS.
Sleepy Eye ends its regular season with a 6-20 record overall and a a 2-14 conference mark. The Indians await Section 2A playoffs, which begins March 4.
Windom 100,
Springfield 72
WINDOM -- Windom downed Springfield 100-72 on Thursday in a nonconference boys' basketball game.
Springfield was led by Carter Hillesheim's 28 points and six rebounds, while Brayden Sturm had 11 points and James Coffland had 10 points.
Springfield hosts Redwood Valley on Friday night.
Madelia 69, GE 32
MADELIA -- Madelia downed Glenville/Emmons 69-32 on Thursday in a nonconference boys' basketball game.
The Blackhawks were led by Ja'Sean Glover's 27-point, 13-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. He also had six steals, while Hayden Jones had 18 points.
Madelia is at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Monday night.

COMFREY -- Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey defeated Nicollet 73-43 on Thursday night in a nonconference boys' basketball game.
Cody Strunk led the Raiders with 13 points, while Conner Martens had 11 points.
