Hamline 81, MLC 74, OT
ST. PAUL -- While the Martin Luther College men's basketball team got a game-tying 3 with half of a second to go in regulation by Jacob Price, Hamline University was able to pull away in overtime with a 81-74 nonconference win on Wednesday night.
The Knights trailed by as much as 9 in the game, but eked their way closer before taking a 58-57 lead late after a 10-0 run. The Pipers quickly took the lead back and led 68-65 after a pair of free throws by Chasen Livingston with less than five seconds to play before the Knights drew a foul and then got their game-tying 3 from Price.
The Knights got two buckets by Micah Kieselhorst and a layup by Blumer in overtime but never led in the extra period as the Pipers pulled away for the win.
MLC was led by Ezra Blumer's 22 points, while Kieselhorst had 16 points and Jack Heichelbech added 15.
MLC fell to 0-5 on the year with the loss.
Women's Basketball
Hamline 85, MLC 52
ST. PAUL -- The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to keep pace with the Pipers of Hamline University in an 85-52 loss in nonconference play on Wednesday.
Turnovers and 3-pointers were the story of the game, as the Knights committed 23 turnovers that turned into 28 Hamline points on the other end, while the Pipers also outscored the Knights 36-15 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Jordyn Heckendorf led MLC with 14 points to go with five rebounds and two assists. Emma Nelson added 8 points, while Anna Treder led the Knights with nine rebounds.
MLC dropped to 1-5 on the season in defeat.
